While at the MBSTP board meeting tonight, my buddy showed me a pic  and advised me not to go kayak fishing in Santa Cruz tomorrow.  (I was going to go out from the wharf towards Steamer Lane.)

A GWS had exploded on a commercial salmon boat's planing board.  The teeth marks were very clear.  Guys on the boat said it did a full breach. Air Shark. Right outside of Steamers aka Lighthouse Point.

Surfcasting has been pretty good so I guess I'll fish from the beach tomorrow.  I'll try to get a copy of the pic.

Damn, I thought there is no fish in Santa Cruz.  That's the one fish that I don't want to catch.  Thanks for the warning.

I hooked into a Pelican yesterday at NB and the guy that helped me get the Pelican unhooked said he seen a 7' shark a few mins earlier. It was not to far from the beach. He couldnt tell what kind it was but I know what i was. They're around.

Great chance for somebody (other than me) to test a shark shield...

If the water tastes like salt there are sharks around. Per a buddy who commercial fishes out of Bodega, GWS hits on commercial salmon trolling gear are quite common.

Can anyone share the weblink to the site that monitors the GWS radio trackers?

You can use Google Earth to track them. But remember, most don't have those trackers. Especially all these new smaller agro ones that are showing up.
