I know many members of the forum aren't crazy about Hobie's

I'll be honest and say that I'm one of 'em...BUT I'm not gonna hold it against you  :smt002

AI, don't pay any attention to Mooch...he's a great guy but he's got all sorts of weird ideas when it comes to left vs right-handed reels...   Welcome to the gang!

I know Chuck,

I think about it everytime I am out at Halfmoon Bay.  That is also the reason why I have a Bowie Knife taped to my knee.

I had a Braid Slammer jig tipped with squid for Rockcod and Lings.  I had a big fish hit it.  My rod went Bendo and I set the hook.  Backed the drag way off and then with the drag backed off.  The thing turned my Yak around 180 deg. in one second and cut off 65 lb. braid.

I thought is was a sealion.  But, saw nothing surface around me.  I know it was "Jaws".  Happen 2 seasons ago.

Coulda been a thresher, too. Makes you wonder, huh?

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

AI Fisher

Welcome to NCKA. I chose a  Prowler 15 over the Hobie because I like the upper body workout, I like the lower cost and paddling is more consistent with tradition of kayak fishing invented by Alaskan Natives. All that said, if I were to buy a third kayak it would be a Hobie since I like downrigger trolling and Hobies are the ultimate trolling yaks. As far  as the GWS issue, yaks 12 feet in length or less, probably have a geater chance of being bit. If you want someone to fish with at  HMB let me know, I will bring my bang stick just in case the old grey man starts chasing you. Of course you will have slow down so I can get a good shot. Hobies are pretty fast.
