What size swimbait and weight jighead should I use at ARW or Tomales for example?

I've searched here and the general internets but haven't really found much in the way of specifics. The Big Hammer articles have some good info but that seems more targeted for surf fishing and are generally smaller/lighter weight than what I'd assume most use...

Ive got a selection of Branson baits, worthwhile giving them a shot?
I'm partial to artificials and would prefer to use them over bait.

I prefer a 3/4 oz jighead and a 4" bait.

Perfect! I'll have to order some smaller swimbaits. Thanks!

I've had good luck with 1-1.5oz jig heads and 4"-5" big hammers in white or anchovy.

Channel Island 'chovy color fish trap. The 5 inch size.

Try different color and size lead head heads. Sharpen that hook!

Do you slow roll on the bottom or pull pretty pretty quick? Excited to try some surf casting for halibut this year.

I've had halibut luck on white, pearl and any squid-looking swimbait, as well as sardine colors and Halloween color FTs too.
I usually bottom bounce them, and then vary the retrieve depending on the drift speed, bite action, etc.

Thanks all! I ordered some 4" and 5" swimbaits today along with some lighter jig heads. Hoping to try them out later this week or next.

Search for member "DC" and check his posts - he's the master, though he's gone to semi-stealth mode on the site.
