Nice fish that's a great first from the yak!

My first fish from the kayak was this beautiful bow from blue lakes in 2012. You can tell I'm a kook by the guides on my rod lol :smt044

I caught what I'm pretty sure was a jacksmelt in Humboldt bay. It took a 3" plastic shad that I usually use for black bass that was much too big for it to eat and then jumped in the boat and removed the hook itself. I am still trying to get used to fishing from a kayak so I wasn't trying to catch anything so much as figure out how fishing from a kayak works. So I took a picture and tossed it back.

5/8/17 Fortunate to borrow a pair of kayaks for our first time yak fishing. Thanks @Bushy! We arrived at Coyote Lake just when everyone was leaving, lolol. On the water at 5pm and fished for 2 hours. It was a success with my first LMB!! I did spend a lot of time stuck in the bushes/ trees 😋.

This is the very 1st fish I ever caught from the kayak.  I didn't know kayak fishing was going to be so hard.  BTW the skipper on this boat is like, 6'4"
