Hi Guys,

I have a female co-worker based in San Jose who wants to take her kids out fishing at a local lake and catch something.

She wants to stay in the Southbay area.  Suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd suggest Vasona lake fishing pier on right side of the lake as you drive in.  Lots of bluegills to catch with worms and bobber.  Great for kids.

I'm taking my boy fishing on Saturday probably.  May have to give Vasona a shot!  Close by and convenient.

It's not exactly the South Bay, but it's a guarantee for catching something. If her kids are young, they'll probably enjoy it.... Troutmere in La Honda.

Square, stone lined "ponds" stocked with small trout. They have bamboo poles with line, hook and kibble. Just dip the line in and eventually one of those little stockers will bite. Of course, the kids develop an unrealistic expectation that fishing is easy... but my daughter had fun when she was 3.   :smt003

Calero Res. Throw a small crappie jig or a worm and a bobber. If your a little advance throw a Texas rig or a small worm for bass. The small lakes in the area (Chesbro and Uvas) are turning up some crappie. Thats as Southbay as you get.

+1.  However, weekend could be busy when the weather is warm (i.e. 65+).  If not, it's usually windy, so bring a jacket.  You're not supposed to swim fish on the boat launch pier, but they usually give a break to little kids.

Not sure how the fishing is ? Prob small bass and crappie. Not sure if they have planted trout in some time. Nice park though.
