Anyone planning on heading out in the Santa Cruz area for the opener? If conditions are calm enough for my wife we'll be launching from the harbor Saturday morning (if not I guess I'll be hitting the beaches for perch and/or stripers). We'll probably head towards Lighthouse Reef, Natural Bridges area looking for lings and rockfish. I'll have my radio.

Cheers,
Brad

I'm sure you won't be alone.

Btw, I noticed that the SC harbor website says the harbor is shoaled
http://www.santacruzharbor.org/announceEntanceUpdates.html
But the map looks pretty good

Does anybody happen to know what it takes for the harbor to be officially un-shoaled?

Sana Cruz should be central and that will open 4/1/2017

Evil joke that would generate huge amounts of fines / added revenue!

Great news :-) I will have to check the plan for this weekend but if I can, I will definitely see you there. What time would be launching? From the Aldo's side?

Plan will be to launch from Aldo's side. Likely there 7:30ish as my partner is not a morning person. Anyone have first hand intel on the harbor mouth? If that's no good, what's the intel on launching from either wharf? I've always gone out of the harbor. She is not a surf launch/landing fan after a crabbing trip at Doran - she still refuses to take the blame for that yard sale  :smt003

Looks like the swell is pretty large both days.

At least the wind should be OK (unlike today at my house...).

Please post report and harbor conditions. I won't be able to go on weekend (daughter's school play), but I might be able to find a day next week if conditions are good.

Just got home, don't have everything I need and to be completely honest, feeling a bit lazy after a challenging week. So I guess I won't join the party tomorrow (maybe Sunday if the wind and swells are OK). Have fun, be safe and please post a report
