OK... I'm strongly considering joining the fun.  My main concern is that I'm a newbie in the extreme.  While I'm plenty experienced on a previous kayak on freshwater, I'm still getting accustomed to my new ride, and I have zero surf launches under my belt.  As a matter of fact, my first saltwater rod has yet to get it's braid wet.

I have more newbie questions than could possibly fit in this post, so let me pick one or two.  1) A Google map link would be very helpful, since I will be driving in the morning, and all streets look the same at night.  2) I have a normal fishing license with a delta stamp.  Is this sufficient, or do I need the ocean and salmon stamps for HMB?

Finally, anyone care to babysit me?  Hey Frank, if you'll be my safety buddy, I'll take pictures of any PB's who try to buzz you!

No Worries AI Fisher, it's easy enough just to launch through the marina with no surf launch to concern yourself with.  I went last year with in the same position and everyone has your back first,

Be sure to have a VHF radio, and I leave the goggle links to others who know how, and I'm sure Frank would love the Photo protection, :smt002

See ya there..........Danglin

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Danglin.  I've gone ahead and pre-registered for Sun.  Assuming something doesn't come up with the family, I aim to be there.

I think I just answered one of my questions by perusing the DFG website.  The ocean stamp is for way south, and the salmon stamp is for way north, so I guess I'm OK with just a normal license.

I'm still not fully outfitted yet and still have mods to make to yak, but I think I have the bare necessities and should be OK for Sun.  My VHF radio is due to arrive by Fri, and I'll see if I can get my rod holder mounted one of the evenings this week.

You can't miss me!  As my alias suggests, I'll be in a yellow Adventure Island - the outriggers, mast, and sail should stand out.

 WHOA!!!!   Hold On Cowboy :cowboy_cool:

Adventure island???  I presume your leaving the outriggers and sail @ home, I would think that stuff will be in the way for fishing.....

       Just a thought.........Danglin

:smt044   Yeah, I know it sounds crazy!  I thought the same when I purchased the AI, but after trying freshwater fishing with and without sailing gizmos, it turned out the extra stuff didn't get in the way, and sometimes helped a bit with stability and trolling.  The sail rollerfurls, which keeps it out of the way, and the outriggers fold in tight against main hull.  I compared pedaling and paddling with and without outriggers, and they do interfere with the paddle's backstroke, but they only cost me 0.5mph top end with the pedals.  My only concern is with ocean swells.  With only the main hull, you can lean into the swell, while with outriggers the whole yak will angle back and forth with the swells.  Unless family conflicts come up, I guess I'll see if this rig can fish or not.  Worse case, I just return to shore, packup outriggers and sail, and head back out with only Adventure hull.

Danglin,

If you carpool with Adam, let me know because I would like to caravan with you guys.  I think I've seen you around the "hood".  Do you drive a green Toyota Forerunner with two yak racks and keep the yak in the middle?

Luis

I know it's only Tuesday, but would we fish in these conditions...?

.SUN...NW WINDS 20 TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES 4 TO 7 FT.
NW SWELL 8 TO 10 FT.

Sorry if I am the only one who's curious...  Just wondering where the "fog or other unsafe conditions" line would be drawn, for planning purposes...  I suppose we'd get out there at 5am and check it out?

Yeah Duane, thanks - good lookin' out.

I just know that some folks are goin pretty far out of their ways for this, so I wasn't sure when someone would say when.

I guess we'll see!

I hope those guys have a good report from SoCal and had fun.

That would make it a "double-header" as Kayak Connection's Fathers Day Tourney at Loch Lomond is the same day.
