Good morning everybody!

Tommorow I am going on a party boat to head out for a crab and dab trip. I've heard of people using Sabikis but I want to see what else has worked for others? Right now I have size 6 mosquito hooks, 2in fake worm, and 15lb leader. Is there a limit to how many hooks you can use? What length of leader? Size leader? Size weight? The trip will be out of Monterey, and weather is looking great but breezy 15-25mph winds. 3-5 ft swells, 12 seconds apart.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I can't wait to fry up some dabs and eat them whole, all tasty, nice and crispy!  :smt007 :smt003

Get some larger sabikis, like a 1 or 2 sized.  No limit on hooks as long as no rockfish are on board. Wear a coat.

I'd also get 2-3oz round lead sinkers and squid to tip with.  Sometimes people add something flashy like a Kastmaster on the top (removed hook) of the sabiki to make it more flashy.  If you have a line counter reel, use it!

I would go with a much larger weight.10 ounce minimum, this will get you to the bottom faster. You want to get past the macks or thell just screw up your gear. This will also keep you from drifting into any of the twenty other fishermans lines in the process. :smt006. Good luck have fun!

I have a few hand tied dab rigs, and one thing they have in common are swivels between the dropper loops and the fly. In theory this helps prevent the bigger dabs from spinning off the hook as they are pulled up.
The only other thing I can add is that dabs can take a much bigger hook than you would think. The bigger hooks not only keep some of the dinks from getting caught, but it makes it easier to unhook the fish you do get.
enjoy!

So, big sinker on the very end, but also include a small 1 oz sinker or even 1/2 oz sinker sliding egg on TOP of the rig.  Above theswivel to leader.  This will lay your multiple hook rig flat on the sand .  Why reel up two sanddabs when you canreel up 6 at a time....

You will slay them.  going out with Chris' fishing trips?  or PB?
