Keeping your catch cool throughout a long hot day of fishing isn't always easy to do. Buying one of those fish cooler bags is one solution, but then again, you have to remember to chill the blue ice pad or fill the bag with ice before you go fishing.

I was wondering if any of you guys with bait tanks ever tried utilizing the outflow water to cool your catch.

Do you think you could get enough evaporative cooling action by directing the outflow hose to flow fresh water over a gunny sack in your tankwell?

I'm just looking for another reason to justify buy a pump and build a bait tank. :smt002

I don't see why not, the water is heading out the scupper, add an attachment on your outflow that spreads water and keep your fish cool all day long.

I think that you are on to something, it will work great . the most imporant thing to do is to keep your fish wet, i see to many people just keeping there fish in the sun that way your starting to cook them  :smt013 your fish :smt017  but on the other hand you are making some good warm sahami to eat. hey it worked for the old man and the sea :fishing2 but hey that would work great, then you will not have to keep your fish in the water, easplly if the have the one's the knot heads like :smt019 well that is my two cents :smt002 oh hay anther good reason you can become the chum trail :jawdrop  chef

Evaporative cooling is the "secret" to a wet burlap sack of yesterday.  Having tried both, its not even close to a modern cooler/ice chest/fishbag of any kind.

I just leave my ice pack for the bag ing the freezer so its always good to go.  Its just one more reason Leah never even looks in the "man" freezer.
