I am thinking  about going to Baja this year to kayak, and got a good 'vibe' off Spike.  I was thinking of going down for one of his 4 day fishing class/vacations, and I was wondering what would be the best time of year for this.  I've driven to Baja before, but was mostly wondering when the East Cape area is 'hottest', in fishing terms.  I don't care about the air temperature!

I'm not gonna be able to make the april dates, but there are times in july/aug/oct.

Thanks,

Rick

The later days the air temp will be hot and you run into Hurricanes.  I usually went in April and May.  We targeted Striped Marlin, Football size Yellow Fin Tuna and Dorado. June-July is the start of the Hurricanes.  Last year there were Hurricanes in Sept. and Oct.

They says not to go durning a Full Moon Period.  But, one time the Striped Marlin were on the chew at this time.

Only did 2 trips (4 day and a 5 day) on the East Cape.  Then I got into Long Range out of San Diego and never went back to Cabo.

Yep, Spike is a cool cat.You can hire him for a day to get the lay of the land (splitting the fee with friends if possible) and then just rent yaks or panga fish for the rest of your trip.Bring a big cooler 'cause you'll fill it! Pargo,tuna,roosters,dorado,sails,wsb,grouper...:smt002

The ranch is great.  We usually go every year.
