Do any of you do any routine maintenance on your dry gear (Pants/Jackets/Suits)? The reason I ask is a few months ago I picked up the Kokatat Hydrus 3L Tempest pants and realized the last couple of trips they don't repel water and booties are leaking.

I called Kokatat and long story short they said 25 bucks to have them repaired.

I informed them that I have taken care of them since day 1 - no detergents, cold water and hang dry immediately after washing them. In addition to that I always have my NRS shoes on when I'm wearing them so the booties never touch the ground.

He said that I had to buy DWR spray and dry them on low heat to bake in, as far as the leak I would have to send them in or I could see where the holes are and buy a repair kit.

Does anybody else have this problem, and more importantly perform maintenance on their dry gear this often?

I think it mentions something about that with the hydrus clothing.  It says they come sprayed with something that helps repel water and that it can be reapplied at the factory for a charge.  When its brand new, it seems like all the water just beads right off but after a while it looks like the outer layer absorbs the water, but that doesn't mean its leaking through.

If booties are leaking, I would just send them in for repair, I hear Kokatat does a great job.

As for maintenance, I just wash my stuff with water, sometimes with McNetts drysuit shampoo, and hang dry.  Spray 303 on wrist gaskets and you should be good.

I think I may just do that - and I'm sorry I forgot to mention you are correct on the leg parts the water absorbs into the first layer but doesn't get through the issue I have with it absorbing is it acts like an ice layer when its cold out - I learned that this weekend.

Sounds like a malfunction to me...
I don't like stuff that sucks.

By the way, are you certain that your pants are leaking?  Because I thought the same thing and it was just sweat that accumulates on the inside.  No joke, I thought my brand new drysuit had a hole in it since my socks were pretty wet.

I thought that too but I tried with and without my wool socks on. When I went river fishing I had puddles in my feet. When I take it on the kayak my socks are soaked up to just above my ankles. I'm going to do the leak test and see for sure

Just confirmed it, I filled the pants up to the ankles with water inside out and see the seals where the tape is were leaking water. Looks like I have to send them back in... bummer
