Didn't my drifter fall off the roof of that thing?

Love the hood ornament!

 :smt005
no, that was my green mazda pickup it fell off of en route to SC harbor.
But-the little bronco was there in the yard, not running after the ICM and starter relay got waterlogged. You sat in it and semi-scolded me for leaving it parked. It took me 8 years, but it sits idle no longer!

Update
Not anything major, mostly just new fluids and hoses, battery, etc
But there’s new tow hooks and a cool hiliift jack mount.
It’s not long before I’m off to the mech for smog😎

heh. With the wind up I ended up doing some "art car" work.
finally chopped the roof off.
I had an old Mirage truck rack I used to have on my Mazda before I put the shell on it, and all this time the Mirage rack has been gathering dust in the basement. I had a free day over the Labor day weekend so i went for it.
I chopped the roof, installed the cut-down Mirage rack, and bolted on a cut-down Con-Ferr basket rack on the cab section. Second pic you can see the rack tubes match up quite well with the basket rack, and the Mirage rack rails fit almost like factory over the cut bed seams. The Mirage rack tubes are the same as Yakima tubes in OD, so my Yakima accessories should fit on it fine.
I ended up taking about 1.5ft out of the basket rack and another foot off the mirage rack length, although it was the same width as the Mazda. Everything is held on with SS fasteners, and the cab rack is bolted through the roof.
still haven't smogged the monster but it has been hauling concrete up and down the driveway  :smt003
I've put 9 miles on it since the last post.

Dude!

:smt006 Remember when you and Joel came over for a BBQ and it was just rotting away in the yard? That must have been like , 2006 or something.

Once the house construction is paid for I'm hoping to get it legal and bring it to an event. With the rack I can actually haul yaks on it now.

I found another bonus to the Mirage rack while covering it for yesterday's rain. A standard canvas 6x10 tarp from Ace hardware fits it almost perfectly, so I should be able to fab up a top for it without a ton of work.

I also have to mention that I've done this thing up on the absolute cheap, mostly with junk I already had. Biggest expense so far was a new 23 gallon steel fuel tank and sender unit. When running, it has been a real help around the house and has kept my DD Mazda from getting too grungy!
