Bay area native here, and you meet 'em from time to time, but they're thankfully getting rarer. Not sure if that's me getting older or their numbers declining. I'm glad DFG finally removed the size restrictions / bag limits on hippies. 

God I hate patchouli.

They are getting rarer as they are getting priced out of the market.......You don't see too many hippies that can afford the bay area

Still quite a few in my neighborhood (Santa Cruz mountains). Some are so old they refer to themselves as beatniks.
