My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Yeah, they do salt.  There's a river otter that hangs out in the salt pools at the Sutro Bath ruins in SF.  Biologists believe he swam over from Marin.

There's quite a few up here. There used to be a family of them in bodega harbor. I've also seen one at Blue Slide and one at Fort Ross.

I grew up fishing the rivers around Nevada City and used to do the bay when I lived in Oakland/Berkeley but now that I live in west Marin I almost exclusively fish the salt.

I think once otters get a taste of the salt it's hard to go back! 😉
