On Tuesday I plan on pulling the trigger on one of these units.  I am curious If anybody is using one and what you feel about this unit.  I think this thing is the bees knees.  Also anyone else who want to chime in feel free.  All input welcome. :smt001

just finished installing mine and will be taking it out tomorrow afternoon for a test run.  what type of kayak and how do you plan to mount it?  I'm actually not 100% sure mine will work well for sidescan yet, but we'll see.

Bmb I am installing mine on a catch 120.  I was hoping to use a scupper hole.  I have read that the scupper hole is to small.  So when my yak shows up next week.  I will see if I could mod my scupper or the plug.  We'll see,  if all else fails.  It's a ram mount for the unit and transducer.  Let me know how bad ass that thing is after you use it.

yeah you will want to measure it.  you will need 1" minimum to pass the wiring through a scupper. i had to do some mods to my transducer mount on my kayak to make the totalscan transducer work. its a big one.  it will also likely need to be flush against your kayak to make the downscan work. I'm not familiar with the pelicans.

I was hoping that I could get the lowrance scupper bracket to work on the catch 120.  The catch 120 has a tunnel hull and the scupper run down the middle.  It would be perfect if I could use the scupper under the seat.  Then the transducer would fit flush to the bottom as well as be a little protected.  Thanks for letting me know about the inch minimum required hole.  Another mount I like is the magnetic mount from fishmount.com.

Looks good man!

I finally took my 7TI out last weekend, what a great unit!

Let me know how you like the transducer on that ram mount, that's the setup I have for my second kayak (got second totalscan transducer) but haven't installed it yet.

Nice work man!  I like how you mounted that 2nd RAM ball on the side of the Scotty mount to avoid drilling unnecessary holes.  You're going to love that unit.  The fish can't hide!   :smt003

Damn those transducers are expensive!  I got the arm mount like Sattes if you want to buy one!  PM me if you're interested

I grabbed the arm mount with the order, sorry! I just haven't mounted it, as I'm not a huge fan of over the side, but can't come up with a better way on my 160i

The cost is high, but I figure I'll have both boats rigged out and only have to swap the head unit back and forth, plus I won't have to buy any more fish finder stuff for a long time!

Thanks for noticing.  I also have the backing plate on the Mount so it is super ridged.  Also worth mentioning is if you go this route and use the hobie ball in scotty mount. Don't drill the center hole out for the ball to fit flat to scotty mount.  If you mount the ball that low in the mount it will be loose.  Meaning your fish finder will be able to rotate left and right .  Instead of staying put.

Did you make your own backing plate or the ones from Scotty?

I used the Scotty backing plate Str8.

Sorry I thought I posted.  I used the Scotty mount backing plate.

Wish I got the 7 instead of the 5 but very happy with it. The side scan is awesome! Australian company created this housing to protect the huge total scan transducer on the hobie. Pretty cool. I like the touch screen, so much quicker :) I'm having issue when I put in the Navi maps chip in there, it would reboot randomly!! If I don't have the card in there, its fine.

Is that called a Berkey mount or something like that?  I was gonna get that cover for my transducer if I were able to use my scupper as a mounting location.  No luck with that.  So I went with the ram side mount.  I can't wait to use the side scan in the pilons where I fish.  I here there are monsters in there..... arghhhh
