All out! balls out! anything goes "KAYAK" fishing tourney in late spring at Bullards bar or Rollins? Gas, electric, sail, stand up board.... 2 day... camp at lake or Weimar compound... Who would be into something like that? pre check for live bait  (not allowed) Worms ok.... Biggest fish 3 categories. Pot split 3 ways 3 fish each species could win 1 angler all 3 pots... Interest???

Sounds like the Race Around The World show.  I am in!  If I have a trolling motor, I have to bring a generator though (if there is no electricity) ...

Definite advantage to "hands free" propulsion in my opinion.  However, would like to know whether the majority of tournament winners paddle or propel.

Well, since you asked........I paddle!

Would appear that fishing skill and ability trumps (I like using that word) method of movement.

Don't take this negatively,, I like them, but those AI's are so far removed from definition of a kayak...  Three hulls, trampoline, 18'masts...  speeds of 15 knots.  It's a sailboat that needs to be registered as a boat.  with or without a motor.
I mean, where do you draw the line?

Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.

While I agree that the AI is pretty far removed from a tratiotional kayak, it begs the question: When has anyone in an AI placed in an NCKA tournament?

I can't think of anyone.

Plus, people need all the help that they can get when competing against me and Rob. :smt003 :smt002 :smt006

So a reasonable handicap is you guys have to paddle a concrete bathtub full of bananas?

Or a banana bathtub full of concrete.

Or use a banana as the only bait of choice (A friend caught a salmon using banana as the bait, 'saw it myself).

It's really not a matter of if electric motors should be used it's simply a matter of when as stated earlier it's already happening and it will grow and will continue  to  grow so attitudes will adjust with time
Yes there will be hold  outs but it's started and will only grow guys spending big bucks on there kayaks will want to use them   And many will want to compete
glade you made it
now let's get our fish on

Separate tourney (or class at least)  for electric motor propelled craft. Personally, I'd prefer them in a separate event. JMO.

Depends on purpose of tournament.

Charity, get together with friends, etc. who cares.

More competition, bigger prizes have to level the playing field. No motors or have a motor division.

Let director or people running tournament decide, most are volunteers anyway and no need to fight what they want to do, always have the choice not to participate.
