All good info. Definitely think that trap placement, number of traps, tides, etc. are more important than bait, but just trying to maximize my chances of catching once I go through all the effort of actually getting to the water and dropping traps.

Had lingcod carcasses the last two times and crabs seemed happy to eat that. Cheap frozen chicken legs were good the time before.

Bait cups I think I need to get some 99 Ranch squid and some kind of oily fish, freeze in plastic cups a number at a time to just pop them out and into the cups.

Have lots to learn about pulling limits, but appreciate everyone's info and tips.
just be careful freezing plastic - they often shatter with little pieces all over your chest freezer that you have to clean up later.  some plastics just don't freeze well.

Does anyone ever add any of the commercial crab attractor scents like Pautzke Crab and Shrimp Fuel or ProCure scents to their frozen bait cups ?

if you want to go cheap, go to your local Asian food store and where are cleaning the fish and ask them if they would give you a half of bucket and they most likely will do it for free, but buy something like salmon heads or some squid to mix in the cups. don't forget to bring a small bucket with a lid and plastic to protect your car.

A little bit out dated with the new reg requirements for crab pots; but the "bait section" is always works:

Cat food sucks (unless you love cats)!!! Using chicken does too; attracts sealions....
