Clear Lake Minner Holocaust 3/23

 I showed up late and fatigued to Buckingham Point.  Then blasted out of the marina to hunt down the pack and could already smell that it was on.  I was headed out to the giant thumbtack and saw that Mahi Mahi, Kickinbass, Mako1, and Tote were assaulting Anderson Island and that they were already in the zone.  I had barely said hello to Juan and he hooked into a beast. And the word was that Tote had already taken a 5+ victim.      very exciting.
 That positive energy continued and there are no words to tell how much I needed it.
Ill let the pictures and those who were there tell more of this adventure.
As far as a fishing report goes     its good times out there.
I took one small victim with the rip bait then everything else on the everfaithful senko.
My fish "of the day" was nabbed aginst a stone wall in 4 feet of water. I allowed myself to be distracted and then saw that my line had bolted past me and was going the opposite direction.
Went for a big set and found that things were more out of my control than I had thought. Went to work then applied a second hook set and it was on. Better lucky than good. I continued to take sturdy and aggressive bass on the senko but it seemed like everyone was catching fish on whatever they were fishing with. Not many of my pictures were very clear on this trip but here are a few plus one of the launch I already had.
All fish were released unharmed.

Nice fish guys.  I knew you guys were gonna slay em.  Cool mini anchor Juan, that should be just enough to control your drift.

Exactly 340 miles round trip. Breakfast on the road at the BK drive through and dinner at the Mickey D's drive through. 14 mpg if I am lucky and 6 hours on the road. $11 for a dozen jumbo minnows. ALL WORTH IT!!
I got there a little late, about 8:45. (Note to self: after printing driving directions to a location you have never been to before; remember to BRING the directions with you)
Not sure which was more epic, the fishing or the company. It was one of the best times I have had on the water in a long time.
KickinBass, Mahi Mahi, and Mako1 were already into the fish when I got there. A VERY good sign.
I caught 8 fish on a dozen live minnows. All on light tackle. I had only one fish break me off, but that was because I forgot to loosen the drag after tightening it down to work out a snag. DOHHHH!!Biggest fish was 20'' and 5.5 lbs. My personal best. Thanks for weighing it Andy. This pig had a tail sticking out of it's mouth so I pulled on it. A 9" shad.
Amazing it went after my minnow at all! Now that I think of it I should have weighed it with the shad still in.
H20Spider showed up not too long after. Everyone slammed the fish and everyone showed me that I am STINKO on the SENCO. My only fish were on the live bait. Guess I need to have Al give me a private lesson at Rancho Seco.
It figures  the pics of my biggest bass to date were all taken with a drop of water on the lens. I will let the rest of the pics speak for themselves.

Congrats on your new pb Mike. Those are some nice fat fish.

It's always good to hear about another great day on the water. Thanks for sharing the pix, water spots or not--they allow the rest of us to drool over your catch!

What a great lake we have in our backyard!
It was good to meet other yakers. Tote, I'm glad it was good for you, having come so far! You need to do a 2 day-er and stay a night at the campground. I do that often.
I think that 9" spit-up is a CL Hitch, hence all the guys throwing big swimbaits.
Sean, my anchor is a #2 ball and if you free-fall it, it plunges into the bottom a ways. You have to tug on it to get it loose. Perfect for lakes.

Next weekend the BassMaster Elite tournament will be underway from the 29th to the 1st. But I am dying to get up there.
