I'm the one who started with the traditional Thule roof rack, thought about the rails to increase spacing between them for my long boat, purchased the Hullavator (the 1st version that was designed by the devil) instead, gave Thule an earful and went back to the traditional roof rack, and just recently bought a SportsRig trailer that is SWEET.

Oh right...I remember reading about the trailer, but didn't associate the roof-rack story with a CRV.

My Toyota pickup only seats two comfortably, and my wife won't let me strap the boys to the roof next to the yak

If they are good paddlers, I would treat them well! Or have you considered a roof storage box?*  :smt005

My truck bed extender arrived this week, so I tried it out with my P13 today.
Very easy to load and strap securely. Still need to install lights.
It isn't nearly as nice as Totes custom made extender and I bet mine will drag on curbs.
But, it will do and it is a blessing for a short person like me.

Nice Rack Alfredo.  I was loading mine like that, with the exception of not having the bed extender.  One thing I didn't like so much was that I have the bed coated with Line-X bed liner...and when the yak would move left/right it would rub the nose a bit.  Didn't cause much trouble but I didn't like that it rubbed.

On thursday I went out and bought  the Yakima Outdoorsman 300 from Rack and Road.  Certainly not cheap, but I'm pretty happy with the purchase.
Only issue I can see with the racks is that they are installed in about 10 minutes (very simple) and therefore uninstalled in about 10 minutes (by anyone).  Also, they're a bit higher than the cab of the truck (a good thing) but a bit too high to have the yak loaded and still park the truck under the carport.

Those are nice racks, they'll work well for you. I would purchase those if I wasn't planning to buy a shell.

Alfredo to Keep it from dragging you could have it come out of the hitch straight just far enough to clear the tail gate and then 45 it up. It would be kind of like a S bend like this. Take a piece of square tube 45 notch it up then 45 notch it straight and place the end piece of square tube  on top, this way the kayak doesn't sit directly on the straight piece. Then all you have to is weld it and pad it. This is how we make them and we don't have a problem dragging.
