We are fueling their hate by electing a Muslim-hating bigot as president, not by purchasing their oil.

On Oil,

Not so many years ago the price of oil went above $100/bbl.  And gas was over $4/g Which kicked the shit out of SUV and big pickup sales not to mention certain parts of the economy.  Obama, that nasty progressive Democrat, quietly allowed (mostly by not trying to do anything to regulate it) lots of fracking and drilling in the US.

The result has been lots of US oil production, so much in fact that the price of oil (on the world market) plummeted until we actually saw oil in the less than $30/bbl range for awhile. (And yes that wasn't the only reason crude prices fell)

The result of that was that much of the US oil exploration/production froze because the market price of oil was less than break even for new exploration/production.

We now still buy foreign oil not because we have to but because of it's price.

The only way to get US production to increase at this point would be to force "someone" to pay higher than market prices for it.

Of course it's more complicated than that but in a broad sense that's where we are,

Hmmmm.....I am not sure this pres elect was the trigger.  I think the rhetoric has been flying for many generations.  It would be nice to figure out immigration without the welfare part or the assistance motivation without assimilation.

This is how it's supposed to work with kids protesting. Good job all around imo.
Yes, solid story and caring staff to alert of consequences and instruction from parents on the goal of a civilized protest lacking violence even though the adult gave a finger.

I disagree with just about everything you wrote here, but I'm running out of motivation to write a well thought-out reply that will just be dismissed as liberal BS by all those who would rather see things from their own steadfast perspectives.

Rock on...

Nothing ignorant about high schoolers voicing their opinions bro.
True, but have they studied the issues or are they following the general liberal teachings of their parents and instructors......... :smt006

Gee I don't know if they have studied anything Eddie. Do you? You are quick to call them ignorant but you have no fucking clue what you are talking about. Whether their parents are liberal is kind of moot isn't it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its wrong or ignorant.

Of course it's more complicated than that but in a broad sense that's where we are,

There was a lot more to it than that..     Bush was purchasing billions of bbl's of oil to fill our Strategic Reserves at top dollar prices.. this kept the demand for Oil up.   His family oil ties had a lot to gain from that.        When Obama stepped in the first thing he did was force the drilling of Federally leased land that Oil producers had been sitting on for decades.  " Use it or Lose it" was the ultimatum he gave them.     THAT is when domestic production boomed.  OPEC then dropped  prices while boosting production.   That's why we're seeing prices back down in the  $40/ bbl.. a level that's as you said,  "Below the break even" .. or possibly it's just not enough return on investment to keep investors interested.    Let's not forget,  during Clinton era,  producers were happily making  less than 20 dollars a BBL.
That being said, with this new Texas oil find combined with the Canadian oil ... we're in for it.    Just not sure how our planet will  fair with the massive increase  of carbon emissions on the rise.   We're experiencing an exponential growth in population.  No mass transit developments...   The path we're on currently is taking mankind  over a cliff.    The worst part is we're stupidly being mislead with the same type propaganda the tobacco companies  used to sell cigarettes.       There's an interesting movie on Netflix.   Merchants of Doubt.      watch it sometime.
Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.

I serve many parents and kids in this community and am very familiar with the public school systems teachings, and when I say ignorant it only means not knowing or not informed of other views.

This would make all of us ignorant, as there are always points of view we are not aware of, or not knowing enough.

What, I think, is critical is to remember that there are points of view and there are facts. (And recently some folks realized that truth is not necessarily in-between different views, but where facts are - but this is separate topic)

My GF just pointed out to me that I need more Comedy and less politics, SO I removed my last post and am going to watch "Life in Pieces" on CBS at 930 pm.

I like this, the quest for truth(facts).  Truth is elusive because of all of our individual histories.  What is true to one is false to another based on experience making it subjective.  I own my beliefs because of my experiences but if I admit ignorance, not knowing, humility is born and I can learn about others and why they do what they do and believe how they believe and understand them more.  Otherwise it's us vs. them and that is war.

You are truly, as the Uncle Joe Stalin used to say, "a useful idiot ". It doesn't mean you're stupid, just naive.

First of all, please show me the quote where Trump has said "I hate muslims". Or words to that effect. Because creating a barrier to entry into the USA for a group of people that at a significant rate does not share the same values as the Western world is not hatred. It's common sense. Please don't believe me, please look at polls by Al Jazeera showing 81% support of those participating support the goals of ISIS. Please look at the polls taken in the UK, and by Pew.

Look at Orlando, Ft. Hood, San Bernadino etc...

Don't give me the NAMALT rationale (not all muslims are like that) because a statistically significant amount of them ARE like that. Especially those not born and raised in the USA. So even if NAMALT, if 5-10% are, and we let 100,000 refugees in from Syria without serious vetting, well then we're likely to add thousands more latent terrorists to our ranks, right?

You say you're a feminist? Liked how LGBT rights were progressing in the USA? How does that jive with your support of a sociopolitical system that considers women property? A sociopolitical system that nods its head to tossing homosexuals to their deaths off of buildings? A sociopolitical system that believes in stoning for adultery? A sociopolitical system that punishes a woman that's been raped? Hypocrite much?

Lastly, ISIS blossomed Obama's watch. Two events in Paris (if not more) have happened on Obama's watch. Multiple incidents here in the US have happened under Obama's leadership.  He is, if anything, incredibly pro-muslim. And yet the level of violence didn't subside. So it doesn't seem to matter who we elect, the hate is there. Trump isn't fuel.

Go ahead now, call me a racist, though Islam isn't a race. Or an islamophobe, even though the literal roof over my head at this very moment belongs to my SIL, the muslim, and one of the sweetest people you could meet. Who also shares my views on vetting folks from the ME before allowing them entry into her home country. Maybe she's one of those internalized self-hating muslims though?

You have your views, I have mine. I'm not going to waste my time debating someone who starts their "argument" with the premise that I'm an idiot...

C'mon now Alex. The term isn't offensive and has been in use for a long time, although I've always heard it attributed to Lenin not Stalin. But whatever. Madeline Albright called Trump a useful idiot just a few months ago.

He's just saying that you are not critically examining the consequences of liberal immigration policies before defending the party line. That you are doing it without prompting from the leaders of the movement makes you a "useful idiot" in the eyes of the leaders of the movement you blindly support.

The problem I have is that I'm 99% sure that you knew that already and chose the victim route anyway. C'mon man.
