Going to go drown some minnows on Friday on Clearlake looking for bass. Had a report from a buddy from Sunday. He bought 3 dozen minnows and ran out due to over bassing. He said the smallest one was 3 pounds and the largest was close to 9.

Likely launch around 8?

Going to launch on the HWY 20 side and move across to the South side. See the attachment (if it worked)

Tomorrow I am gonna see if I can get Friday off. Would be nice to fish some new water. especially if it is producing.
Where does one buy minnows up there and what time does the bait shop open?

How far is that paddle from the hwy 20 side of the lake? debating if the extra 20 mile / half hour drive is worth it. Provided of course I get the day off.

Sean,
That IS the spot where we found some protection from that howler.

Kickin,
There is a launch from the tip of buckingham called "Braitos marina". They are kayak friendly (no charge), just ask them where they would like you to park. No minners though.

Tote,
that crossing isnt all that far but the narrows bottle necks the power boat traffic and if there are wind waves they tend to stack up there and it can get pretty rough.

Have you guys tried Clear Lake Oaks? Its protected 5mph and lots of spawning bass in there and its on the same side of the road your launching from.

I'm there. New spot for me and I look forward to new water and other yakers. I only wonder exactly how to get there. I figure I'll go south through Lakeport and continue on 29. I think I was near there last year when I fished that place with the red shack burger place right on the water, I forget its name. I think if I continue down that main road I'll run into Braitos?
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Juan:

I get my minnows at the guy at Lakeport, and then you just keep going on that road all the way to Buckingham.  It really is a nice place, and very bassy looking all around.

So, it sounds like the launch spot will be at Buckingham. Sounds good to me.

Sean are you a go? If so, are we going to load up your trailer again and go as a group or do a caravan?

I'm getting pumped!
