keep it on the 20th, is that because of the Mother's Day conflict or is it because that early in May the weather and swell to unpredictable?

It's because I'd like to keep it simple and consistent with past events, and the rockfish/lingcod opener isn't even as big of a deal as maybe it used to be.

It did occur to me though that I like the weather patterns of mid May - even compared to early May.

This is likely. Mendocino management area proposal to move the opener to May 1 is one of the topics for discussion at the fish and game commission meeting this week in Eureka.
