There ain't shit to do in Honolulu. All the good stuff is away from Honolulu so I hope you have a car!  Don't forget to say Aloha to all the sexy women!
I will have a car during my stay so distance is not an issue.

Take H3 to the East side There are some shoreline parks in the vicinity of China Hat with decent shore fishing. You can work up to the North Shore and come back down the center of the island  -  Or contact David Elgas / Boogie-D and see if he is still guiding this time of year http://coastalkayaktours.com/

And for all of you commenting on how there's information thank you for letting me know but that wasn't my question I asked for ideas not to tell me where those ideas are at if you don't like what i post don't comment. It's simple all the negativity is not needed. I could careless if there's a post where as long as you follow every instruction you'll land a fish. I could careless if there's a post about an exact lure to use and you'll be guaranteed to catch at least one fish. I simply asked for some ideas.
?? I thought Won started this post....maybe I missed some bad posts somewhere.
Come on Ben. Where have you been?

Also yes, north shore is the best.  there's not like a ton of things to do or anything, but there's quite a few little things. I loved just driving up there on the road and seeing all the chickens run around.  you can pretty much do all the normal attractions in a day if you feel like it.  dole plantation has good pineapple flavor ice cream - good in case you meet some ladies.

Need your help NCKA.  Will be going to Hawaii for the first time, but for work. Plan is to finish work on Monday and have Tuesday and Wednesday to look around, flying back Thursday.  Not a lot of time, but gotta work with what I've got.   :smt002

Been researching a bit today but there's so much to do.  For those of you that have been there, if there's anything in particular that you'd recommend, please post up and help a brother out with ideas.  I'd realistically like to spend at least one day fishing if anyone has any good recommendations on guide/charters, otherwise I'm up for anything!  Thanks in advance.

U can see all you need to see of Waikiki on Monday night by just walking around.  Very touristy.  The kitschy old International MarketPlace just reopened last month - Its now more Santana Row than Don Ho.  Gone is the quaint swap meet - in with the luxury shops.

Some non-fishing related suggestions - flip flop the days depending on weather.

Tuesday -

North Shore beaches (meaning, Banzai Pipeline and that stretch)
Lunch in Haleiwa.  Kua Aina Sandwich Shop (never thought a mahi fish sandwich would impress me - I was wrong, its unbelievable!)  Also have the shrimp trucks just down road.
Dole Plantation (on way back)
Sunset hike up Diamond Head
Dinner at Pig and the Lady

Weds -

Honolulu Fish Auction Open to public only on Saturdays, but call anyway and sweet talk your way in
Pearl Harbor
Lunch at Alicias Market
Hanauma Bay
Dinner - cruise the chinatown marketplace

Personally, I would not fish or do a luau for a first trip.  if you need to go full agro tourist mode, then on one day, you do Pearl Harbor, H-Bay, Polynesian Cultural Center Luau

Awesome...thanks ' aka Martin.   :smt002  Appreciate you taking the time to list out rest of my itinerary.   :smt044

Almost forgot, food recommendations are a must!!  Thanks for that.  I like eating more than site seeing.   :smt044

I assume since you are there for work you are near Downtown or Waikiki?

A few more "food" options:

- Second the Kua Aina, they make a lot of burgers but I also usually get the Mahi Sandiwch...as well as Pig and a Lady
- Another quick and easy Hale Iwa stop is Matsumoto's Shaved Ice....Another popular Shaved Ice joint is Waiolas in Town.
- Shrimp Truck - Need to hit Giovannis...there is one in Hale Iwa but the Original one is in Kahuku
- Hawaiian Food - I like Ono's, though you can also hit Helena's
- Other places to eat...Side Street Inn (Kapahulu), Leonards (Malasadas), Fresh Catch (Poke), Kaka Ako Kitchen, Scratch (breakfast/lunch), Liliha Bakery (for their Coco Puffs)
