Thanks for sharing your adventure and doing the video.  I felt like I was there.  Did you ever find out why your AI got filled up with so much water?  Amazing that it did not sink with all that water.

I started with four 2.5gallon jugs water plus all Spearfishing and camping gears, the kayak sit way below normal level.
Wind blew hard and wave kept crashing over the bow, plus it submarines a few times. It's normal to have some water I think.

There are several places it can leak. Front hatch is easy fix with pipe insulation. Round ones a bit more involving

Very kool guys!! Looks like you were floating on your akas that one point. Was it difficult to over come the flooding water with the pump?  Seems like it would flood in faster than you can pump it out. Looked like your center hatch was under water. I took on about 6"es of water once this summer fishing off Bolinas on a rough windy day. Good thing you finally got a little wind, all tho if it stared blowing real hard, it could become a problem if your flooded... Quite the adventure for sure! One of the best posts I've seen on this board.  :smt004

Great to hear positive review of the video.
I use NRS bilge pump, it worked really well. It did slow down just a bit when there was flooding.
Hobie AI is really a keeper kayak.

Thanks for sharing, that was sooo cool, the bugs were GREAT!  I remember back in the late 80's taking my 17' ski boat over out on Newport, crazy times.
