Several "notable" NCKA members (including sharky, Clayman, O2B, canikillit and myself) are featured in Kirk "Monkeyface" Lombard's awesome new book "The Sea Forager’s Guide to the Northern California Coast".

https://heydaybooks.com/book/the-sea-foragers-guide-to-the-northern-california-coast/

Kirk is one of my heroes, and holds the current CA State Angling Record for Monkeyface, and inspired my love for the mighty Monkey.

The book is really cool and I am honored and humbled that I was able to contribute even a tiny bit.

I was lucky enough to get a few copies of the book, and have set two aside for the 2016 DOTY and AOTY prize tables.  :smt004

Sincerely,

Jim

Legendary kayak angler and poke poler....yet no mention of impeccable taste in beverages and swampy black magic jazz tunes?

Coolest book cover ever!

Cool of him to give props to Ken Jones, as well.

Nice. Had to order a copy. I love Lombard's style, and the publisher/author is a righteous old-school Berkeley type with some great titles under his belt.

I got to look over a copy today over at Amos house and I loved it. Gonna order a copy as soon as funds allow. It has really great illustrations for dummies like me who can't read. :smt003

+1.  I've been steadily reading the book ever since I received it in the mail.  Love Kirk's writing!  The guy's super smart and yet he delivers his knowledge with wit and humor.

Really cool that he gave props to Ken Jones.  I learned the fundamentals of saltwater fishing using Ken's Pier Fishing in California book, back when I was a total newb to the salty stuff.

Wow this is soo cool! Congrats! Love the eel on the cover! I look forward to getting a copy as well. My friend took me out for my first poke poling experience a few days ago in Sausalito. Unfortunately my first eel happened to be a 3 inch Monkey Faced eel, and it was using a plastic worm, because I forgot the squid! I opened up the bag and Whitney and I both said "Noooo!" LOL :smt003

Wow, it has received some very heady reviews.  Cool.  This is the mainstream version of his leatherbound tome that cost multiple hundreds dollars?

I was going to order one but it was brought to my attention that some of the book may be misleading. :smt044..  :smt005 :smt008 It says Jim is a poke poler. :smt005

I poke my spear (pole) into holes...and pull the trigger.
