about 2lb 14oz. That's still about a pound lighter than a regular sla battery but with twice the power capacity.

Can we use the 12V charger for car battery to charge this Lipo?

I think they need special chargers.

They absolutely do. The same site sells chargers as well, but most require a 12v AC->DC power supply. Additionally it's worth getting an under voltage alarm.

Also never leave lipos charging unattended
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I just got that battery and will be installing it in the next two weeks. Please note this battery is a bit bigger than some of the other battery packs.

Definitely need the right charger. This is the charger I use:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ND7J38C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This website was sent to me from an electrical engineer friend. It does a great job in explaining these batteries:  http://rogershobbycenter.com/lipoguide/

Dang thats a great deal.  I own the 10000 mah.  This battery needs to put on LiPo Storage Charge when not in use.  Do not keep it at full charge when you are not using it.

Wow great deal.  Will the LIpo batteries have the potential to explode like the Samsung Note 7 batteries?  That has been my chief concern about the lithium batteries. :smt010

I've had those blow up on me while charging. Once a cell goes bad the charger keeps on charging, it does not register a full charge because of the bad cell. The good cells are fully charged and eventually over charge. THEN BOOM.

I used those packs for my e-bikes. It was a good thing I only recharge outside in an open area.

I own 3 of these Multistar High Capacity batteries to power my Dragonfly 7 and never have any problems. These are  widely used by the Rotor RC crowd who fly very expensive helicopters.  Thats why they have forums and ratings for them.  Obviously these people would be pissed if their toys crashed.  Do a search on youtube on Lipo batteries and see how widely they are used.

The new smart chargers prevents over-charging, mine won't even turn on if the settings don't match the battery to be charged / discharged.

Quite a few of my yak fishing buddies use them regularly, even for electric trolling motors.

What FishingAddict said... The better quality batteries are used on $1-3K drones. If these things were poor quality, the hobby shops would be out of biz.

There are cheaper Lipo batteries you can get, and that is where some of the issues can start. Also, you have to charge them with a good charger and store correctly.

That being said, I think these batteries will be adopted quickly. I may experiment with this one, and see if I can hang a USB port and secondary connector for a lighting system. Also, for what it is worth, I used the Pelican 1060 box, given the size.

Or they might overheat, melting a hole in your kayak, and you'll end up like flight 370...

But, seriously, I use a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4, or sometimes given as LFP) battery because those cheap lithium phosphate batteries make me nervous.
I don't like stuff that sucks.
