Hey there. We are thinking of one. Having looked at a various amount of Rv's and trailers we have come to the conclusion that most used stuff is just beat and new fiberglass trailers are kind of cheap for the most part. We went over to Airstream in Fairfield a couple of weekends ago and man, they are nice. Really pricey but you know the saying. So I would like to see if anyone on the site has one or has had one and what their opinion is. Thanks Craig. Really looking at the 19ft Flying Cloud. 55K Damn

Steve Sell (Wildy sales rep) has one and likes it. He hauls that thing all over the place. They are nice.

We have a 30' International Serenity and just love it!  It's like hauling a 4-Star hotel room around with you.

You can always take it to a campground and air bnb that sucker to pay for itself when you aren't using it!  I say go for it, you deserve it big daddy!

Andrea and I seriously looked at buying a new Airstream. I mean very seriously. We went to the bay area RV shows, the Fairfield showroom and the dealership in Las Banos. We loved the 19 footer. We also considered the 16 and 21 foot trailers. All of them are very nice. We almost pulled the trigger on the 19 but just couldn't justify the price. It was too much for our immediate financial goals. I hate being in debt, but it would have been a done deal if I had the cash.

We bought our Casita instead. It's no Airstream, but we're happy with the purchase. Plus I can retire without a loan to pay.

Do your due diligence and shop the other dealerships. The Airstream is a classy and quality product. I'm sure you would be very happy with one.

Good luck!

For what it's worth Craig, I've owned, restored, played with probably 50 odd trailers over the years. the airstreams were well built but I found the storage minimal. We tend to overpack but still. the rounded body cuts a lot out of the storage cabinets. Casita has the same thing going on. I like the 60's 70's trailers... Just my preference. As with kayaks... try them all... even rent one... You won't go wrong with an airstream. Resale will always be there. Restore an old one and get way more out of it if you sell. Buy used... Look close before you buy. Dry rot is a B#^% to fix.... Happy hunting :smt003

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Craig, check this place out in Guernreville sometime. He's on Armstrong Woods road across from the coffee shop. Cool place. The dude that runs the joint is a trip and will give you the tour if you're interested. I think he's somehow related to Jack Lalane or something.

Thank you for the genuine responses guys! I found another place in Winters that has some used Airstreams. They really are a cut above. The re-sale is ridiculous. Quality oozing out of the whole product. Made in Cleveland, Ohio.  Chad I gotta check that dude out. Looks like an old bouncer hahaha. Bad ass stuff right there.

Kind of the Boston Whaler of RV's. I never owned one, but my friend had a 30'??? It was ridiculous! The only thing I could ever recall him griping about was getting a good seal ariund the roof vents.
I thought it would be a serious roaster inside a big tin sausage, baking in the sun, but it was suprisingly cool in the day, and retained heat well at night. I think you could handle getting a good seal on a vent lol, this guy was a realtor  :smt044

I was just hanging at camp at the Cove with my aunt and uncle from Santa Cruz with their Airstream.  They love it and are about to get a bigger one.  I'm not sure what size they have, but it's sharp.  Good luck!

Absolute truth.  When we picked up our Shasta compact ('71, 10 footer), we didn't have any idea what we were doing, but now I do know what we're doing: Letting it rot in the driveway while I either muster the will to fix the dry rot, or figure out how to dismantle and junk the thing. There's nothing quite like cutting the load bearing taillight wire keeping the back wall attached to the trailer to take the wind out of your sails.

Agreed that the Airstreams are awesome, almost went there, too. The financial commitment and potential frequency of use stopped us.

We have been thinking/talking about the Casita since seeing Raydon's last year at Simply.

If I was retired, I'd consider a fixer-upper Air that I could restore.

Heading to winters to look at a few used ones. I also saw Alfredo's casita at Albion. Linelle wants a trailer with a bit more room. Which translates to grandchildren coming along. Hehe. The casitas are also a high quality product.

Not much room for grandkids in a Casita! They offer a bunk bed option, but I think you give up the bathroom or side dinette. Not worth it. Get something bigger.

Go for the Airstream!
