Steve,

I'm interested depending upon weather, wife, etc...

I'll put it out to my other friends that Big Sur is a possibility, just keep us up to date on the weather conditions.

I'm out for Saturday.  I am trying to fish somewhere on Sunday.  Maybe SC harbor or Monterey.

Chef,

I've got 2 newbies interested in coming along. Neither has done a surf launch. Let me know if the conditions would be passable for 2 newbies. To make things worse, one has a FnD and the other an Outback, not the best surf launchers IMHO.

Between Mill Creek or Limekilm, which would be the easier launch.

Thanks,
~Elric

The weather reports got starkly better today. looks like it'll be alright for newbies. Bring drift anchors just in case though.

Mill creek may have a more treacherous launch, depending on the tide, but it's close to the parking lot and in the open fishing zone. A little ways further south in pacific valley there's a spot thats got a flawless launch, though a longish portage. With several guys and one or more good carts I'd go from there.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

i would say its not a good place for newbies.theres to many submerged rocks that pop up out of the blue.the weather can change way to quick out there .not alot of emergency landings .its also not the easiest place to launch and land.ive had some close calls out there before.

thats just my opinion

Chef,

Have we clearly decided the launch point? How much farther south is Pacific Valley and would the long portage be too much of a hassle.

I've got one guy who's had his FnD for more than a year w/o ANY fish and I would really like to get him one, let alone his limit.

The other guy, got his Outback only a couple days ago. Tho more athletic, a first time surf launch might be a lil too much, too early.

I'm not too sure of GTO's and his Bro's capabilities as well, but I think one might be in a short yak, like a Frenzy or something.

So we may not have the experience as found w/ the last group.

For Safety reasons, I'd like to go to Pacific Valley on Josh's recommendations. Unfortunately, i haven't fished anywere near this far south, so i'd like to go w/ someone w/ experience. Otherwise, i'd guide the group myself.

Btw, can we get a headcount on who's going?
