Lakes to fish (with Kayak) in the Bay Area

I highly recommend the book "California Fishing" by Tom Stienstra. While some of the info is on the older side it is still a great resource and can help motivatate to explore new areas.

Lexington Reservoir is not closed to kayaks but the ramp is closed to trailers.  Went there last week with my Pro Angler and the mussel inspector said I would get a ticket if my trailer was in the parking lot, so I went home and got my car top sit in kayak and returned.  I did see a person unloading their Hobie Adventure Island off their trailer and wheel over to the inspection area and down the ramp and park his rig in the parking lot.

Lexington is supposed to be open to boating until mid-October. I've had my AI there a few times this year. I car-top it, and have never yet had to take it down for inspection (which would be a major pain).

This is why the ramp at Lexington is closed to trailers. Other than that, it's open---the lake is closed to boating from October 15 to April 14.

The edition I've got has a copyright date of 1999. It's interesting to see how some things have changed since then.
