I like to fish at night so...

I'm installing LED driving lights on the box, led strip on the sides, bait well pump, and a fish finder. I'm going to run a 12v battery from within my hatch to multiple toggle switches. I built the waterproof box for the toggles ran the wires to the battery, but the for some reason all of  the toggles have to be in the on position for any of the items to get power. Not sure what is  going on there.
Also I installed a inline 20 amp fuse. It is blowing out the fuse as soon as I put power to it.
So cut the inline fuse out and ran the wire directly to the toggle box. Everything powered up (with all of the switches on the on position). as soon as I flipped one of switches to the off position all accessories turned off and the positive wire from the battery started burning and smoking.
Thanx,
Keith

Series wired instead of parallel by thr sound of it. Possibly ond or two of the leds wired backwards

There are multiple things that can cause this...

Are the wires all on separate circuits? Are they all connected after the 20amp? Why are you running such a large fuse? One 12v can charge that many items but most likely you may be running into an issue of the battery not being able to power all at the amperage that all want to be on at... My setup, everything is separated and I have a separate battery for my live well.. Are you sure the wiring is done properly?? Good luck should be an easy fix.. And my suggestion would be get a separate battery for your Live well hope this helps, let us know what you have going on!?

Are you switching the power or ground? You could run power across the positives and switches on the ground side. And run appropriate sized individual fuses for each component since each will have a different max. The other suggestion is to jump power across the switches so each switch is "powered" individually and run a common ground.
Maybe someone else will have better advice. I am a trial and error electrician. I keep lots of fuses handy

The + and ground are both run parallel. I have 1 + & 1 - run from the battery to the switch box. Inside the switch box both wires are run parallel. The ground from each accessory is run to the - on the battery. I have removed the inline fuse (I ran out of fuses). I used 20amp because that's the smallest the auto parts store had.
Still have the issue of all switches need to be in the on position.
wires getting really hot and starting to melt.
Any advise or drawings of how it should be wired would be greatly appreciated. Likely completely pull it apart tomorrow...

If the wires are burning up then you are probably drawing too much power through them. Or the Guage is too small. I am looking for a drawing, I can't post pics for some reason .

Do you know how many Amp each device draw and what size (AWG) the wires used?

I checked the packaging and it is not listed.

Agree that by what is described it a direct short, making the wire a heating element since there is no other load inline.

Lights shouldn't care what way the electricity runs through them, as long as they turn on they are right.
