I posted this in my report of my day at Timber Cove. I thought I'd ask about it here. What is going on with these blues?

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

My best two guesses is something is hunting them or there's bait near the topwater. I saw something like that during GS9 and every time I dropped a line I hooked onto two blues. Seemed like there were a ton of bait there.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

Holy crap, that's the best conditions you can ever run into.theyve got bait pushed up against the surface and are devouring them.best lure top water but pretty much any bait fish imitation will get you hooked up.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I hooked up plenty. Mostly on my shrimp fly.

^^^ This.

I've run into this even from shore a few times along the Sonoma Coast. Big schools of blues pinning a school of bait to the surface or even cornering the bait in the back of a protected cove. When they're going like that, literally anything that hits the water is fair game. A few coves south of Gerstle Cove, a friend and I threw little bass grubs on a trout rod and must have caught and released 50 each over the course of an hour and a half before the school finally moved out of casting range. So much fun.

They are chasing bait for sure. I seen it at Peigon Point one year. Had a few chase my swimbait out of the water.

A shotgun blast would do the trick nicely, although I'm not sure I've ever thought about 'look out for buckshot' when eating fish.
