I "speculate" that the clam originally inhaled a captain's watch and chain a century ago,  that was dropped overboard. Possibly? a captain was studying his reflection over the side of his cargo ship in still water, while self musing over his decision of how he got into this line of work?

Probably could(?) write this one off as a case of "Clam Revenge".

Next time I dive in Palawan I might check a few clams for pearls.  The second largest pearl also came from a clam in that island.  Just hope the news about the pearl and its value does not create havoc to the clam beds which are usually no more than 30 ft.
