I am looking to store a kayak outside. I've seen different covers for kayaks on the net. Has anyone figured out a good way to protect your kayak from the elements while storing it outside?

I would be equally interested, right now we store our yaks in our barn. But what I may end up doing is building a kayak rack on the side of our tractor garage w/ cover.

I store mine hanging under my deck. As long as it's protected from the sun and off the ground the kayak should be fine.

same here.
Before I had a deck I stored all the yaks on a 2x4 built rack in the side yard and covered them with a waxed canvas tarp.
Main things are to avoid pressure points that might deform the hull in hot weather, and keeping the plastic out of the sun.

There is also another cover that is basically a long bag with a zipper so everything is covered and it keeps the bugs out.

+1 for the 303   Was told that Disneyland buys the stuff by the 55 gallon drum for their rides.  Good enough for Mickey's kayaks, good enough for me.

I use the ebay version of these, and they're good for the cash. I'm unfortunately saddled with keeping these in an area with some sun, so they fade out in a year, but seem to hold together for 2-3 years just fine. I think I'll be able to get 4 years out of 'em before they're cashed for good. I wish they were white on the outside to keep heat inside the bag at a minimum, but whatcanyado?
