Went out at dawn with TA2JUAN to a beach in Monterey County.

Nice looking conditions (no wind, glassy seas, moderate swell) but when I jumped in there was a LOT of weeds in the water and the worst viz I have had all year...super hazy/murky and really hard to even see the tip of my gun clearly.

We put in about 3.5 hours and I saw two decent 25inchish fish but couldn't get a good shot on either. Saw some other flashes in the murk that may have been fish or may have just been my imagination.  :smt005

I got seasick (think it was the birria I ate the night before or the moonshine I drank?  :smt044) and chummed the water for a bit but kept going.

Juan caught a ton of weeds/kelp but no fish.

Hope the water clears up soon so I can try and get another fish or two!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

what's the old saying?

"can't get fish unless your spear's in the water?"  :smt005 something like that....

I ended up covering 4-5 miles yesterday, but at least I got to watch my buddy land a nice 15# flattie :smt003

Yep!

I remind myself of that everytime I'm in the surf getting tossed around...that and when I'm getting funny looks from surf casters and beach goers I tell myself "everybody thinks you're crazy...until you get out of the water with a fish".  :smt002 :smt005 :smt044

Still felt good to get in the ocean!

Jim
