So apparently boats do better when they don't have holes!

For those of you that followed my thread about my boat and offered advice, thank you. Step 1 was to go out and get two plugs for the holes and see how it sat. Well that seemed to be it. Immediately noticed it sat MUCH higher in the water. Started right up and took off. No idea what was really wrong with the throttle but it hauled ASS this time.

In fact I don't want to depower the motor. It seemed to do fine (at least on a flat lake) with an 85. Went top speed and cut throttle. No swamping in the back. Reverse, forward, turning...all good. Think I might get a new starter and fix a few little things. I LOVE this redneck contraption. :smt044

I agree not to de-throttle. You will probably never get a chance to open it up on the salt. If possible put the plugs, ones at deck level, in from the inside. Then you can pull them out while motoring, and everything will drain. This will be handy when you start getting bloody Hoo's & tuna on board. Can't wait for some carnage videos!!!

Glad you had a good day.  Hope that equals lots off tuna in Mexico.

Duh that should have been obvious to me. From the inside not out. Yeah unless its a glassy day half throttle will probably never happen.

Yes plenty more to do, and many, many trips out in the salt before i'd consider taking this to Baja.
