Hey, I just got invited to this cabin up by eel river. I was wondering if any one knows what's the rules of the eel river.  Is it cnr or take is okay too.

There's been no take for wild salmonids on the Eel for almost 20 years now, and there are no hatcheries.

In case you're unfamiliar with the reg book, (as the DFW fishing regs drive me crazy too)

Eel River and Eel River drainage regs start on page 41 of the above linked regs, there may be other applicable regs as well,  but this is a pretty good layout in table form.

...and my reference to no bait applies to 'trout season' (summer months).  Bait is allowed on much of the system during adult salmon and steelhead seasons fall through early spring.  It's pretty questionable as a regulation in a no take stream, but it is what it is for now.

Thanks guy really appreciate the info.  I guess we would go to another fishing spot.  My friend can't resist eating fish of any species.
