Knowing now what you do about the head unit, is some kind of "Protection" you can apply to it to prevent it from flooding again?  Like some duct tape of the SD card? (As mentioned earlier)

Well Lowrance came through.  Received my new Hook 5 today.  I figured they were just going to send me the head unit, but I got a whole new retail box with everything, including another transducer.  Now lets hope this new unit can stand up to some splashing better than the old one.    :smt005

I've never seen a Lowrance unit with water in it that didn't get in through a properly sealed SD card slot. Glad they took care of your issues, CS is usually pretty good. Make sure to use your Insight Genisis feature.

The SD card slot was 100% dry, which is good because I had a navionics chip in it lol.  Really no idea how it got in there.

I've thought about putting some aquarium sealant in all the cracks to make sure it doesn't get flooded, but honestly I shouldn't have to do that.  If they advertise an IPX7 waterproof rating for their product they should make sure it lives up to their quality standards.  So we'll see.

No need to seal/ goop anything. It would be extremely rare for anything like that to happen to you again. Like I said, I've never seen this before and I've been dealing with Lowrance for awhile, lucky you  :smt012.
Well enjoy the new Hook unit. I have a guy looking for an extra HDI trans if you want to part with it. PM me, I'll send you his contact info. Thanks. Mike
