Since the Berryessa reports have been dismal lately, I'm planning on trolling for kokes & trout on Boca Reservoir on Sunday 7/17. If anyone wants to join me, I've got an extra Scotty Laketroll (post mount) & 3# cannon ball I'm willing to loan out.
Additionally, any intel and/or tips would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't been out for kokes this year and it's been a while since I've fished off the wire, so this is a much anticipated day of paddling for me.

Wish I could meet you up there, but heading to PIF this weekend.  Good luck!  I will look forward to your report.

Sac bee fish line has a recent report on the koaks up there, they say its wide open, big ones.  They don't allow cut and paste or I would of.

I just read the sac bee report and it sounds like a solid bet. I've never fished there before though. I'm always up to try a new spot though! What time do you plan on launching? And where is the launch?

I'm probably going to go up Saturday night and just sleep in my vehicle and launch pre-dawn, otherwise I'll leave Vacaville @ 3AM & it'll be a 6:00AM launch.
I've never been there, there's a boat launch & dock on the west side, but looking at the aerial photos it looks like there are plenty of places to park and wheel down to the water. Some people  just drive down to water's edge from the looks of it, which would make for an easy launch.

I'm kind of weary about hitting up Boca now after reading a report else where. Apparently the stellar reports have increased the pressure quite a bit & the easy limits wide open bite has dwindled to a decent bite with limits hard to come by. Boat traffoc has been pretty heavy on such a small lake. I get uneasy around too much boat traffic, especially since some guys don't respect the guy trolling in a kayak.
I'll still hit it up first thing Sunday morning at least, and if it gets too crowded or if tempers start to show up, I'll move on to Prosser for smallies & trout.

Eh, that's a heck of a drive for me to fight a bunch of boats for fish. I'll sit this one out and maybe give it a shot on a weekday.

Completely understood. Though, maybe with this weekend being the Salmon opener, all those boats will be other places. Here's hoping anyhow.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Maybe we can meet up @ Berryessa once the fish move into the narrows & in front of the dam in a month or so.

MGoMini,

Figured I'd pass some info your way, I live about 20min from Boca, I was just there today.

Launching: You can drive anywhere on the shoreline and launch, no need to go to boat launch, explore the dirt roads just over and pass the dam.

Boat traffic: Late morning to evening, busy, but it's 98% ski boats, wake boarders and jet skiiers who desperately want your attention. Go early you'll be fine, or go late. That's why they call it Boatca. Spring and Fall are great though.

Fishing can be great at times, or not so great, like anywhere.

Love Prosser due to no ski boats and jet skis.
Stampede is another great early morning option, still ski boats and Jet skis mid day though, but not as bad as Boca.

I agree, Prosser is a great spot for the Kayak 😀 If I can pull it off, I maybe out there. Good luck.

Do you fish for the smallies or the rainbows & browns? Any areas to focus on?

Didn't fish myself either, but I was up at Boca and Stampede Sunday morning riding the dirt bike around, I saw lots of Kokeanee coming in with people at Boca.

i remember this place...  i camped there years back to ride my dirt bike. i still remember something would come by at night and knock my big grill over down the side of a hill where i was camped.  i chained it up the next night, and when i heard noise i saw a couple deer messing with my grill... must have been the deer meat. LOL.  it was also the first time i saw a hobie in action.  caught some bows on kastmaster from shore, but remember someone telling me some parts by the inlet(?) require barbless hooks.
