I've tried this area before and never like it.
Actually, I hated it. For me, there was nothing good about it.
Not being a quitter I figured I'd give it another shot, only take a different approach.
So as I entered the area I went back and forth with no luck whatsoever.
The finally...WHAM! It jumps right out at me.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
It looked like 1/2 mermaid, 1/2 bear, sitting in a clam shell with a fish skeleton next to it. WTF is this???
I quickly grabbed it, loaded it in my truck and took it home.
The taste was amazing. It was so good I went back and scored 2 more.
I hear the season is ending so hopefully I can go back before it's over.
Never hurts to explore new territory.

Tote with an IPA???  What's next light beer?   :smt003

Where is that stuff brewed?  Alc. content?  I might have to give it a try, but doubt I will be able to find it in Chico due to the SN Green label monopoly up here.

Rye IPA? Sounds terrible yet interesting, give us a detailed report.

It's a collaboration between Coronado Brewing Co in San Diego and Bear Republic Brewing Co in Healdsberg.

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
A Rye IPA collaboration with San Diego’s pioneering Coronado Brewing Company. The pungent and layered blend of Ella, El Dorado, Equinox, and Azacca dry hops coupled with a whirlpool addition of Buddha’s Hand creates an aromatic explosion, ending with a spicy malt caramel backbone.

It doesn't have that potpourri smell or taste to it at all, which is probably why I liked it.
I've become a big fan of rye as of late; beer and whisky.
Jack Russell Brewery in Placerville has a Hitchhiker's Rye Ale that is great!
I picked up a bottle of Firestone Wooky Jack, a Black Rye IPA..............we'll see how that goes.

In the spirit of things I cracked open the Firestone Walker Wooky Jack black rye IPA.
I'm now reminded why I didn't like IPA's in the first place.   :smt044
I'm still trying.......
