Im taking some summer courses up here at UC Davis and with Lake Berreyesa 20 minutes away I'll be keeping my kayak up here.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to fish (north/south/ specific coves) and what works for the post spawn bite ( plastics, cranks, raps?)

Any tips appreciated  :smt001

I haven't fished it in over a month but will probably be out there trolling for kokes and trout this weekend.

For bass you could launch at capell cove (free) or markley cove ($$). From friends who have fished there lately the top water bite is starting to pick up early and late in the day with smaller top waters. The jerk bait bite has been ok, and most of the fish have been coming on drop shots. Sorry I don't have too much current info but I'll see what I can find out this weekend.

Can you troll safely around the water skiers out there. I've wanted to give it a try also.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

Usually the area around the big island is pretty clear of boaters since it's a good ways away from the launch. If you launch at oak shores you can park on the road and wheel your kayak under the gate and down to the water. The gate to oak shores doesn't officially open till 7, but it's usually more like 730-745.

Can you get kokes and trout there through the summer or will they move as the water warms?

The water is pretty deep by the big island, but it seems that towards the end of summer everyone is fishing near the dam. I'm still learning the lake so I can't say for sure if the fish stick around the big island as the summer gets hotter.

If your targeting Kokes ...The  predictor of kokanee location is temperature. ..find that cooler water at whatever depth and you`ll find the Kokes , between 44 and 59 degrees. Below 54 degrees the kokanee are less active.higher they are just listless ... Wherever  54 degrees is in the water column, that is your target depth. Mind you not the surface temp ..)used to PB fish for them at LB.)..also setting the your FF 83/200Hz might help find schools better
