Headed out with Beerhunter's Dad. Papa Andy . Fishing was a little slow. But once your on the water......  Life is Good . Limited on smallish rockfish. Released a short ling. Don't let the video of the bigger ling fool you. He ended up jumping out .   :smt005  :smt005

It was really meant to be for the ling. He was a warrior. As I was checking him out. He had about 4 places on his mouth that looked to be where he was hooked before. So he lived to fight another day .

Papa Andy had a nice verm and cabby. !

Missed you this visit Pablo . Maybe next time.  :smt006

What I forgot to mention was there were areas of cod jumping out of the water . metering them about 20 ft below in about 50 fow . I should have video that. But I got caught up in casting a 4 inch hammer with a 3/4 ounce head. Was picking up olive and black rockfish. Then got over that in search of lings.

Hows the shoulder holding up while paddling?

Those fish were probably feeding on velella velella more commonly known as by-the-wind sailors on the surface.

We saw a lot of them on Sat when we went free diving there.

Thanks for the report and pics/vids brother  :smt001

" Thanks guys". Said in my best nerdy voice .

My shoulder has been feeling a lot better but still some creaks going on. Probably should have it looked at. Using the exercise bands with low impact is great.

Besides adding flares and a floatation device for my paddle I have backed that up with a lightweight aluminum pole that has a crab pot floatation on it that fits in a secured rod holder behind my seat for added support to re-enter kayak if it flips. Will post pic later. Will carry this until confident more about my shoulder. Don't want to endanger myself or folks out with me.

I had a blast fishing light gear for those top water rockies. Will try to re-fine my light gear for them and post a video next time. The more I think about it, the more I enjoyed it. Guess I get a little to focused on the lings when in fact I had more fun throwing the light gear. Nothing like catching a fat ling though.  :smt003

Gotta get some hali's with you soon Keith. They are showing here in the Monterey bay now. With the squid showing as well.... Hmmm... Maybe some ghosts soon. Oh, and can we try your not patented sex herring ?

the time is right.
