I was shopping for a birthday present for myself from my wife since she does not like to make technical purchases on my behalf (maybe I am too picky), and since the W30 was not immediately available I did a search and found this model http://www.waterproofcameras.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=SL321 .  I know that the Optio WP either 10/20/or 30 is the camera of choice on this site but was wondering if anyone has had any experience of knowledge with this product.  I kind of like the shock protection but I also only want to buy one camera so I am making sure I do this right the first time.  It also sounds like there is not much difference between the Optio WP 20 and 30 versions so I may just settle for the 20 as the Pentax site indicates the 30 is not currently available and there is no estimate when they might be.

Hey Etienne,

Cool looking camera.  It looks to be almost bulletproof.  The only thing that bothers me is that there's NO optical zoom.  I use the zoom on my Optio all the time, and digital zoom suks by comparison.

The Olympus 720SW is Shock proof also, I was going to buy it but was not impressed with the Photos. The Pentax did a better job.

I just (5 minutes ago) took delivery of the very new Olympus 770SW.  Good to 33 feet.  I've begun swimming with the fishes here.
There was a $50 off coupon from Dell so it was more reasonably priced.  I'll upload some pictures soon.

I took delivery of my new Optio W30 last week.  I had it out on the water for the first time Saturday.  It takes really nice photos.  I need to be carefull to reduce the resolution before positng because with the 2 gig memory card and the highest resolution I have capacity for over 1000 photos.  I used it Sunday to film my wife crossing the finish line of the 21 mile Big Sur Marathon Power Walk.  There will be photos in my reports from now on.

Etienne - just make sure you attach a float to your new Optio AND always make sure the "door" to your battery compartment is always "locked"  :smt002
