I need some advice or your opinion or you recommendations. I am planning to perches a digital camera that I can take with me when I go out on the water. I have a Canon G3 that I take now but it’s a bit big and I am afraid I am going to wreck it if it gets wet. I am not sure if a full waterproof camera is needed or just water resistant would work, photo quality is impotent to me on the water off the water and inside. What is your recommendation what works for you?

Thanks
Pat R

Pentax Optio WP20 at Abes for $234 no shipping no tax http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=pnow20&l=Guidester&GSID=73060543&GSESID=pozmlp555qovbw45yyot0knq&GSCID=1
Or the Olympus 720SW http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=ols720sw&l=Guidester&GSID=73060543&GSESID=pozmlp555qovbw45yyot0knq&GSCID=1

Olympus also just came out with a new model that waterproof to 33'shockproof,dustproof and freeze proof about $400.

I love Olympus cameras but I think the Pentax takes better pictures and does not have a lot of stuff that you will never use. Well thought out camera.

I have been looking also. Pentax has a newer Optio W30 and Olympus has a newer 770sw by the time you read this there should be something even newer.   :smt005

Just Ordered mine from Butterflyphoto.com for 225.00 + shipping no tax. I did compair the w30 to the w20 the only deferents I could see was the w30 would go down 10 feet for 2 hours I was hopping to spend most of my time on top of the water.  Thanks again

Go with the Pentax Optio 10/20/30 or whatever # you decide on. It is easy to use, compact, and takes GREAT pics with tons of options.
We had a small snow storm just blow through here and about 10 minutes ago I took some pics of the back yard at night without a flash. UNBELIEVABLE photos!
The night time option is amazing. Definitely use a tripod.
I will post one or two as soon as that option is available so you can see for yourself.
No pressure papa Bill!!!!! :smt002

Wow I have been overworked this week..duhhhhhh
Here's that pic I took of my back yard at night. No flash. No artificial light. Just the night time feature of the Optio W10. Darn cool camera.
