Well I'm thinking about doing a shore dive this coming weds, but numbers really confuse me so I'm trying to see if it's conditions are safe enough to go out.thanks in advance, this is what I found yay, nay?
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I am reading this as 6 ft swell at 9 seconds. And a 6 mph wind with gust to 8. Doesn't sound too hairy but I am not a diver.
I only fish on days that end with Y

Your original post doesn't say where you plan to go.

Here's a link to the NOAA forecast. This is basically the data that all other sites start with then frame it up for their own needs.

This is a point forecast system and will yield an actual forecast for the point you place the cursor on the map. Manipulate the map around until it shows where you want and put the cursor on your spot and click. The forecast that comes up will be just for that point. Then down on the lower right section of the page you'll see a graph, click on that and it will give you an hour by hour forecast.

This link is centered around Ft Ross but from there just manipulate the map and click away. This link works best on a computer but should also work on a phone (and may lead you to a mobile app that yields the same info)

http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=38.49981784551419&lon=-123.24840545654297&site=mtr&smap=1&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=marine#.V0MnoPkrLIU

What I'm seeing on this link/spot right now is a mixed swell with total seas around 4 ft with lots of wind, sloppy and uncomfortable diving.  Also looks like the swells are more or less from the south so shore conditions are going to be different than they would be with a more normal nw swell.

Looks like later in the day swells and winds are going to increase,

Of course this is all at 9am on Monday, and as forecasts/real conditions do it can change in a hearbeat.

Here's the forecast link pointed as close to Pt Arena as I can get.

http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-123.74636&lat=38.93489#.V0NJyPkrLIV

This particular point forecast tool doesn't work North of Pt Arena, it just defaults to the zone forecast if you pick a spot north of there, not very useful for nearshore conditions.

Here's a graph that I took from the graphs available from the link above.

I don't think I'd ever give someone advice on when to go or not to go unless I was stand there looking at the ocean, but as forecast at the moment I wouldn't go, but I don't dive much anymore, I'm definitely a fairweather diver these days, but I have payed allot of attention to forecasts and conditions over the years.

Check out the forecast link tomorrow it will probably change.

I use the NOAA site but it is a broad area that they forecast for. I use others to check hour by hour wind. The Google weather is usually pretty on point for wind.
I only fish on days that end with Y
