Last night on the way home I was on a surface street that had a turn lane in the middle. A guy was standing there in the turn lane waiting to cross the rest of the street. :walk: Very busy street.... I stopped so he could finish crossing the road (legally required in California) The guy behind me, decided to pass that asshat (ME) that had stopped in front of him. :smt097  he Pulled onto shoulder and gunned it to go by me, flipped me off!!! As I saw him do that I screamed RUN!!!! to the pedestrian. He lit out and just made it. :angel10: His shoe got knocked off and hair whipped by the mirror on the truck... If you ever find yourself in this situation either behind the wheel, on foot, or behind someone that inexplicably stopped in the middle of a lane... Think twice before whipping around or walking out past the nice guy that stopped without LOOKING for some dickhead that couldn't wait 30 Seconds.... Pickup Truck driver Did NOT STOP and is in Jail for hit and run this morning (Ya, that flip flop- he knocked off the guy's foot). = Life ruined. Now I'll probably have to go to court and testify sometime over this. I'm just glad only adrenaline and panic happened. Be careful out there, slow down and be safe. Could be  YOUR  life your saving....
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Ive seen numerous pedestrians hit this way, its a way of life here in Salinas. I always stop for pedestrians on the farthest lane to the left of which direction there walking from. It gives them a fighting chance of survival.

It's your fault weimarian,if you weren't so selfishly being the nice guy and stopping for the pedestrian, the asshole behind you wouldn't got mad and tried to go around you, (jk) sadly that's how today is,we're all so busy that waiting a few seconds is torture.glad you was looking in your mirror otherwise that guy would be dead.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I am glad no one hurt.  But I have issues with some of the CA unique laws/rules of the road that run contrary to logic and the many of the states I have lived in.  Road two narrow on a hill/mountain the vehicle coming down has to back up?

Merge vs. yield. Another one I love, most states consider that a vehicle coming onto a highway yields to the freeway traffic, not here, this state cannot figure out who has right of way. http://www.pe.com/articles/freeway-609312-code-handbook.html  After reading this goat fornification of an answer by a CHP rep, we are left to figure out on our own?  What the frak does that mean?

Motorcycles splitting lanes...this one gets interesting, a motorcycle splitting a lane, if the motorcycle is on the LH side of a lane it is a legal pass, if the motorcycle should cross the lane, and is now in another lane of traffic, they were illegal and can get fined/found at fault. The whole splitting lane thing is weird to begin with as it is not legal in most other states. Splitting lanes in CA but on Federal Property is forbotten.

I'm glad the asshat (Not you!) was caught and in jail! Now, that I'm approaching senior citizen status (Not immortal anylonger) I see impatient (young) drivers all the time now doing shit they shouldn't.  It's hard to think, I was probably just like that, but didn't realize it then.
I've come to "Slow down" now and after slowing down, I'm  able to recognize others recklessness's.
Just no reason, to loose cool when driving!

My daughter got hit this way while she was in a crosswalk, she was 12 yrs. old.  2 cars stopped one way and 1 stopped going the other way, the 4th car, a 69 Caddy did not stop. They calculated he was going 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.   A witness thought the guy hit a garbage can by the way she flew.  She turned out to not be too badly injured.  What really chaps my hide though is that the police didn't do a tox screen.  It was 7:30am in early March he had all the windows down and no shirt on! He was on something!

The worst one I saw was at Larkspur Landing.  A school bus was stopped on the perimeter road, red lights flashing, stop indicator extended, signs on the back saying to stop when red lights are on, and there were kids getting off.  Six very new SUVS, including a BMW, Lexis, Porsche, and Land Rover all went zooming right past it at high speed.
Nice?

Nice?

There was a school-bus here on my street that always use the flashing lights when dropping the kids off after school that caused a backup. Drivers were impatient and not stopping. I can see why some were frustrated. I'm usually coming back from work traveling northbound on the street and no one stops at all but the drivers on the southbound stopped. are we required by law to stop?
