Another solution is  modular system with a replaceable pod. As long as device  (fishfinder, motor, see-through glass if you wish) fits into dimensions you can quickly accommodate any, with no extra CapEx. And we already have one of these, hopefully more to come.

WOW you spent all day waiting to respond and you did that for sure and well said.
Now I have kayaked fish in the ocean for check this out for at least 46 years started in the late 70's only the last 4 have been with a fish finder and I only got that for trolling for trout but I figured I could use it in the ocean as well. Now I would not leave home with out it unless something went out. It is a game changer for sure. Can you fish with out it ya sure but why? I saw the new Hobie/Lowrance transducer mount under the kayak and yes that's what I am talking about. I do believe I could retro quite a few models of transducers to that with a DYI system. I mean if you going to put a spot for a transducer at least make it big enough to accommodate at least some other models "come on man".
I am sorry I don't believe it would cost that much more were not reinventing the wheel already. Seams to me they change there molds every few years. There always seems to be some modification going on.
For those who want to see the video of the Hobie/Lowrance it here at this link tell me that ain't cool and NO I cant afford a 3K dollar kayak just for the transducer mount.....
Here is the link:

This pod you speak of is used in several Wilderness Systems kayaks.

Exactly. And, of course, there could be different form-factors, depending on possible use. Though standardized (as in single-/double-DIN for car stereo) would be very cool.

BTW, anybody know what is the downside, if any, of having pod similar to WS'? I'd guess weight, anything else?

We will just have to see what, if any, the next generation of this holds from WS.  For all older kayaks lacking a pod, etc the YakAttack setup is pretty much universal & uses an arm for the ducer.

Have you checked out the YakAttack transducer arm. I have seen a few in action and am thinking of getting one for my kayak.

By the way, the big ass Lowrance transducer that is 10' long WILL fit in the Wilderness pods. It takes a drop spacer to do it, but I have seen it done. So, if that fits, anything on the market should also fit. And on the new 130x it will fit with no mod to be made at all to the pod, spacer or kayak.

I think it was Troy on the team that did it. Check it out on the team FB page. Could be one of the other guys though.

Theeasurements I took a few months back supported the idea it would work but I am/was always apprehensive till I/someone tries it.  Can't wait for mine.  I think th Ti will be the new standard of higher-end units for those who want all the bells & whistles

I have one of those arms sitting in my garage...all rigged up and ready to go...it looks pretty but it's just one more piece of gear to deal with...One day I'll get more techy and start bringing it out with me.  :smt001

That's cool!!!! Maybe we saw each other out there before. What did you paddle in the 70's? We first launched at Stillwater Sonoma in the mid seventies.

Shown in photo is a  10" long transducer recess, this is for the new  G2 Raptor.      I designed it to fit the Dragonfly, and Lowrance  units I have.   I even met with a Lowrance rep to determine if it would fit those huge units they've come up with.     The bigger the hole, the more drag you create. it's a balancing act for us "stupid kayak makers".  :smt002   There's going to be a 5" tube going up, terminating inside the hull. That way the wiring stays coiled inside the kayak.    I'm not adding inserts there to accomodate a specific model,, because no matter what, someone is going to complain it doesn't fit THEIR transducer, or the thread size is wrong.   :smt005        Bond the transducer to the hull with a dab of goop.    Alternately there is also a removeable pod , but you'd have to shoot through the hull
It's not that hard to modify and adapt to your kayaks design.

And for the record,,  I can verify, it's not cheap to build a mold...   Only a hundred thou ? LOL..     The mold can be cut / welded and modified after the fact for substantially less, but it's a PIA
