Anyone never try Trout Lake on the Shasta Wildlife refuge should come out.  Opens April-August.  Great bass fishing and some really nice Eagle Lake trout. Let me know if you'd be interested.  Electric motors only and can't keep bass under 22'. So plenty of peaceful action...evening wind will push you away from the launch.

WTTM Dusty, been wanting to check out that lake, let's hookup later on for that and Lake Siskiyou when the campground opens.

T.L. Tim

I will get in on this too.  Lets plan something.

Hell Yes!!  Love Lake Sis!

Love the picture Saw, very clever idea....👍sounds like a fish and chill coming soon....
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Welcome Dusty :smt006
I've heard of Trout and Bass lakes and of the good bass fishing at Trout Lake. I wouldn't mind getting in on that either. I find myself at Copko every once in a while too, love that lake. I'm up that way a lot during archery season.

I'm out by the Klamath and Copco. I tried Trout Lake last summer and boy was it weedy. Was it the time of year or is it always that way? Water was real clear but couldn't find a place without tons of weeds. Would love to learn how to fish that lake.
I try and hit up all the waters up here. Lets fish sometime.

Looks like bass lake is open feb 1-sept 30 and trout lake is open last sat in april through sept. 30 but only wed, sat, sun.  Siskiyou is open all year.

For those with young kids, the kids days at the mt shasta hatchery on the first saturday of the month in june, july and august (uless moved by the 4th of july falling on saturday) is an absoulte blast.

copco has bluegill and yellow perch that can be caught by the gazillions on bare hooks in the spring, the kids love that too.

Sasquatch and I might know of a place with a few crawdads.

I'm pretty much down for whenever for a FnC but I'd love for kid friendly/focused activities too if any of you have young kids.

I'm in siskiyou county a bunch in the summer time at r ranch in hornbrook.  I'm allowed guests for a small fee if anyone needs a campsite up this way, and there is plenty of other camping options around.

Lets do more than one FnC this year, should be a lot of fun!

Crash - sounds great!  I have three sons 9-5 and they had a blast last year on Irongate.

Sasquatch - Trout Lake gets pretty weedy towards the end of the summer.. There are still some good holes to hit when it gets like that. I'll have to show you them.

Think I might hit Siskiyou Thursday afternoon.  I'll let you all know how it goes....glad we got a break in the weather!  Need to take advantage.

Don't forget you're close to Crescent City if you come down the Klamath and over Grayback. If they ever open the dungie season here it should be really good for sports. Sadly, the commercials are taking their gear back to the gearsheds.

That's the long way.  It's a way nicer drive than I5 north, but it takes me about half an hour longer.

 Crash,
Did you say crawdads? lol. I picked up another trap like yours and am looking forward to doing that again.Would like to drop it when i go to Siskiyou. I bet it's good there too.

 Dusty,
Let me know whenever you go, that is if you want company. Got an extra tandem yak for your boys if they come along.

As for a fish and chill, count me in too.

Sounds great Sasquatch....I'll PM ya when I hit up trout lake.  Went to Siskiyou last week.  Caught a few nice Browns...went to Greenhorn lake yesterday just for the heck of.  Gorgeous day...was bummed out when I saw all the otters....fishing was horrible. im pretty sure they are the culprits. Water temp was 45-47 degrees.  Still needs to warm up more for the bass. A lot of shore fishers for the middle of the week.  Now I know why I haven't fished it since I was about 12 years old.  Fun paddle though
