I've spent the last month gearing up and itching to get out on my new to me Viking Reload. Thinking about getting out of the harbor Sunday to drop my 1 and only crab trap then do some paddling around.

Will anyone else be out there Sunday? Or is it not recommended?

Have you ever been out on the ocean before in a kayak?
Do you know how to self rescue?
Do you have safety and immersion gear?

Sorry for asking basic questions.....but safety first :smt001

Kayak crabbing is more challenging than fishing, so be careful.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'm 100% on board with safety first and appreciate the reality check.

Only my second time out. Went once with Bushy.
Kokatat angler dry suit, PFD, radio charged and ready, whistle
Have not done a self rescue but willing to jump in as long as I have support from whoever I'm with.

Hello Guys, in case you'll find a crab pot with a name Ichiro, please give me a howl. I soaked them Wednesday and I got back yesterday, nowhere to be found. Just a thought TY again, see you guys and enjoy crabbing.

Im in the fence, feeling under the weather. If you dont know how to do self rescue and still want to go I suggest you stay close to jetty and with the group. I've been trying to shake off my cold.
