Sorry if this is a dumb question I'm real new to the kayak world but when you guys do tournaments like this does everyone have a livewell?

This tourney is catch photo release, artificial lures only. No use for a live well. Some bass tournaments have a weigh in,  or allow live bait, and some of the ocean events you have to keep the fish. It's always a good idea to read the rules, especially if it's cpr. See page one.

These are catch, photo, and release tournaments...live wells are not permitted.  The fish are measured on a "hawg trough" or type of bump board and a daily identifier is usually included in the photo to ensure the photo is not an old one.

Sorry I went back and read the whole post! Makes more sense now thanks! I can't wait to get involved in these in the future!

It would still probably be a good idea to get there a bit early.  With almost 50 kayakers on the roster to fish it will take some time to get everyone in the water.  Not to mention the need to keep the ramp somewhat clear at all times so that the boaters can get launched too.  There is a lot of dock space at Tiki so those arriving early can get their kayaks in the water and maneuver them out along one of the docks for staging until it's time to take off.

I believe there will also be a group camping there at Tiki from what I've heard.  I'm heading over before daylight tomorrow and will spend the day on the water.  Probably sleeping in the truck Saturday night as I don't feel like driving the 4.5 hour round trip home and back again for Sunday mornings event.

I'm unfortunately going to have to pull out of tomorrow's tournament.  It seems our Grand Daughter brought home pink eye from date care and passed it along to the whole family.

I'm good for the $10.00 side bet,  I'll bring it down in April.

Sorry Guys,  I was looking forward to this one.

So I pre-fished Thurs and Fri late. Few fish here, few there, all deep and no real pattern on Thurs but all the fish seemed deep and small bucks up close. Both days I noticed a large amount of bait in the docks. Thurs I really didn't pay attention but after a crappy prefish Thurs, Fri I decided to fish around the bait. The water was real dirty stain so I needed something with a rattle. I tried cranks and a couple jigs but I know I needed to match the hatch which I assume was shad or shiners. The cranks just wouldn't get down cause the ball was so close to the docks. Well luckily I had my striper stuff with me so I setup a drop shot rig with a white Branson mini slug w/glass 3 bearings rattle in the tail. I pulled 5 nice fish :smt003.  This was the biggest and the longest LMB I've ever caught. She was strong and I'm guessing close to 10#. Guess where I'll be fishing on Sunday :smt002.

I think I might enter it into AOTY, it would be the biggest LMB recorded. Stoked!
