Those that plan on fishing all of the events this year and are entering the AOTY will have priority entry if the 50 angler cap is reached.

Do you have layout of the rules? And is this a part of a bigger tournament or is this In a  class of itself?

I'm really new to kayaking and really don't know anyone else that has a kayak lol! If I'm off of work I'll try to make it out and participate! I'd be an extreme noob but it would be cool to meet some of you guys and get out on the water with you!

Name and Purpose

Name
This club shall be called Yak-A-Bass Nor-Cal Club
Goal
To elevate members’ knowledge of kayak bass fishing on Northern California Water ways and promote the sport of kayak bass fishing
Mission statement
Yak-a-bass club mission is to focus more on education. The club is oriented more toward knowledge rather than a competition. Fish-n-chills will be conducted to learn and provide friendly competition and camaraderie. Prize and cash tournaments will also be conducted to allow members to learn about and experience kayak bass fishing competitions. All members will be exposed to tactics, tips, and strategies to help them to become a more successful kayak angler.
Membership

Requirements of membership
To become a member, a person shall:
Voluntary express a genuine interest in membership
Must have a current California Fish and wildlife fishing license
Must be of the age of 16
Sign a waiver before participating in fishing events. Members under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a legal guardian.
Meeting of Members
The membership shall hold regular meetings at a pre-established times. Whenever possible, such meetings shall be held after fishing events.

Officers, elections, Vacancies and Eligibility

Officers and their Duties
The officers of this club shall consist of:
President: Presides over all regular club meetings and directs all official business. Supervise all club functions. Vote only as a tie-breaker.
Vice President: assists the president in his/her duties and presides on the absence of the President.
Secretary: Maintains accurate minutes of all regular and special meetings as called for by the president. Maintain all member tournaments results, ranking, and essential data.
Tournament Directors: The above officers shall also be considered the Tournament Directors. The tournament directors shall: plan, organize, and be in charge of operating all club tournaments; draft tournament schedules and rules, which must be approved by the general membership; maintain accurate tournament records; enforce all tournament rules, and investigate all protests concerning tournament and make recommendations for resolution of the protest.
Board Members:
The above club officers shall constitute the Club Board of Directors
Elections
The election of officers shall be held biennially (every two years) at a regular meeting during the month of December in even numbered years (December 2016, 2018, etc.). Election shall be by simple majority of members present. Election for each officer shall be held separately in order listed in ARTICLE III, Section 1.
Eligibility of vote
Each member is entitled to one vote. Proxy votes are not permitted.
Term of office
The term of each office shall be two years, which shall begin on the first day of January in odd numbered years (January 2017, 2019, etc.) and end on the last day of December two years from election or until the successor assumes office.
Vacancies
In the event of an office becoming vacant, nominations shall be asked for and an election held to fill the unexpired term of the individual vacating the office.
Eligibility for holding office
To be eligible for an Office, a member must:
Have been in the club for six months (waved during the first 12 months of club existence) and,
Have attended at least 75% of the club meetings and 50% of the club functions during the current 12-month period
Have shown an active interest in all club functions
Removal of membership
A member shall be removed from the club membership roll for any one of the following:
Any action which would reflect negatively, dishonor, or disgrace on the club.
Disqualification from any fishing contests due to cheating.
Removal must be voted on and approved by majority of the voting club members
Tournament rules and regulations
Tournament Locations and Times
Club tournament locations and rules will be reviewed and amended (see Article V Section 1) as necessary by the Board of Directors. The board will present the members with tournament locations and rules prior to the first tournament each year and will attach a copy of these by-laws as an addendum.
Locations will be in Northern California, with the California Delta as the central hub. Lakes, rivers, and reservoirs within a two and a half hour drive from Stockton, CA will also be considered for fishing event locations.
Tournaments shall be between 6 and 8 hours in length.

Tournament Rules
Members shall not cheat or be dishonest. Any angler breaking the following rules will be disqualified.
Members will use artificial baits only--live or cut bait is not allowed.
Members are restricted to using one rod and reel at a time. Anglers may not have more than one line in the water at a time.
Only one person per kayak or approved fishing vessel is allowed.
All fishing regulations under DFG and boating regulations under USGC apply. A current California fishing license must be in possession during the tournament.
Kayak or approved vessel must be propelled by paddle or peddle drive system, no gas or electric motors.
US Coast Guard approved PFD must be worn at all times while in the kayak or approved fishing vessel.
Anglers must cast, catch, and land their fish from the kayak or approved fishing vessel while floating (example: anglers may not fish from a beached kayak).
Members must not go more than 100 yards past the launch location prior to the start of the competition. No fishing during the waiting period.
Members must stay within the tournament boundaries during the tournament.
Members must be within 100 yards of the launch site by the check-in time, no fishing allowed after the check-in time.
A penalty of 1 inch per minute late will be applied to the angler’s score. The member is disqualified after 15 minutes past the check-in time.
Catch Photo Release (CPR)
Members will only use Catch Photo Release as means of fish measurement.
Fish must be at least 12 inches in length, or the minimum legal length for that species and that body of water.
Accepted species are largemouth bass, spotted bass, and smallmouth bass.
Fish must be caught, landed, and handled consistent with DFG regulations and released alive and in good condition immediately after the photos have been taken.
The measuring device must be an approved “Hawg Trough,” white or yellow, one piece (no hinges), with one quarter inch markings must be clearly visible (darkened with paint or pen if needed), and be at least 24 inches in length. Fish exceeding the length of the measuring device will be awarded the maximum length of the measuring device (no estimations or extensions allowed).
The picture must show:
Mouth must be fully closed. One inch will be deducted from a fish pictured with an open mouth.
Fish is laying on side, dorsal fin up, with mouth touching the left side of board.
No obstructions in the nose or tail of the fish.
Measurements need to be rounded down to the ¼” mark unless the tail is clearly touching the line.
Only one hand may be used to hold fish on the board: no ties, bungee cords, bands, etc.
Fish should not be pictured while hooked by any fishing device such as: a fish grip, game clip, lure, hook, or bait.
The unique identifier code for the competition will be drawn from a deck of cards the morning of the tournament prior to launch. The identifier, measuring device, and the full length of the fish must be clearly visible for the catch to count towards the score.
Members will be responsible for submitting their own photo catches using a camera with a viewable screen.
Members will be responsible to report accurate length of their fish.
Each member’s top three longest fish will be scored.
The angler with the highest total inches for three fish is the winner. In case of a tie, the anglers’ biggest fish will break the tie, or second biggest if the first is tied also.
Miscellaneous
The cut-off time and date for any changes to the tournament will be as follows: the tournament directors must notify the competitors no later than 8:00PM on the date two days preceding the tournament date if any changes need to be made.
The tournament directors will establish the tournament details concerning weigh-in, big fish rules, off-limit rules and other details of each tournament at the club meeting prior to each tournament and announced to the membership at that time.
Some tournaments or Fish-n-Chills, as determined by a vote of the members may also be designated as “technique-specific”, such as jigs only, frogs only, etc.
Tournament results will be posted after the tournament, and the top anglers will act as mentors for the group, providing insight into their winning methods and techniques, and their approach to the day.

These bylaws and tournament rules may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-third vote of the members present, provided written notice of the proposed amendment has been presented to the membership at least one regular meeting prior to the vote.

Yak a bass is a club in the nor cal area. We are in our second year running tournaments. This year we have gone from 2 tournaments to 5 tournaments with a fish n chill to learn the new waters in between. Ncka is awsome and allows us to post here for those who do not have facebook, or use our website. We have 30 anglers signed up all ready on our Facebook event with another 20 people interested this could fill out this year and hoping to see as many ncka guys out there as possible

I made a mistake on the flyer. I will update it tonight hopefully. We are tied to our dfg permits and can only do a payout for 1k. All extra money minus costs goes to the end of the year party/free raffle/bbq at our aoty event

because they won't max out every single event of 50 anglers?  if they did then they could probably start doing individual event permits (which can be more than $1k and cost $~60 per event in permit fees) instead of an annual permit, which costs like $60~ for the whole year and has less rules and restrictions.  I'm not a tournament guy so I won't be attending these, but I wish them well.

Last year we did the lower entry fees and angler cap wit sign ups. We had all our posts pulled from ncka. Also all fees trophies  and marketing came from my pocket and our club council.

I'm going to be there.  I'll pay my fees now just tell me where to send the check.

Ok guys were almost full with 50 anglers, we have 48 people allready signed up on Facebook and another 50 people interested, anyone who's planning on making the tournament please put you name here and if you plan to do aoty it would be a huge help. Registration will start at 4:30-5am and it's first come first served, anyone wanting to do aoty will have first dibs bUT i would recommend getting there early bring exact change and launch is $5 per kayak.
